Community Involvement and Partnerships
Community Involvement is a long-standing corporate objective. For more than 25 years, our company and its coworkers have contributed millions of dollars and thousands of volunteer hours to improve the communities where we live and work.

The Center for Enriched Living (CEL) |

- Nonprofit agency for children and adults with developmental disabilities such as mental retardation. Members range in age from 10 to 80 and come from throughout the Chicago metropolitan area. CEL offers after-school, evening and weekend programs for social enrichment and skill development.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository |

- One of the largest nonprofit food distribution centers in the United States, feeding more than 310,000 hungry children and adults in Cook County, Illinois annually. The Depository is committed to efficiently distributing donated and purchased food through qualified agencies such as soup kitchens, shelters and pantries.

Children’s Miracle Network |

- A non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children's hospitals across North America and Canada. The 170 hospitals they support are available 24-hours a day to help kids of every age and background overcome every imaginable disease and injury, regardless of a family's ability to pay. Every July, CDW coworkers embark on a month-long grassroots campaign called the CDW Fun Drive for Children’s Miracle Network. Our coworkers organize and implement various events such as car washes, bake sales, an online auction, a charity motorcycle ride, and Guitar Hero competitions – to name a few – in order to raise funds for this very worthy cause.

Operation Homefront |

- Provides emergency assistance and morale to our U.S. troops, the families they leave behind, and to wounded warriors when they return home. A nonprofit 501(c)3 organization founded after September 11, Operation Homefront leads more than 2500 volunteers in 26 chapters nationwide. Since its inception, Operation Homefront has provided critical assistance to more than 40,000 military families in need.

YWCA TechGYRLS® |

- A program designed to reduce the widening gender gap and increase exposure to and interest in technology for girls, ages 9-14. Designed to broaden girls’ knowledge of and interest in math, science and technology, the girls gain confidence using technology tools in whatever profession they pursue. The long-range goal of TechGYRLS® is to increase the number of girls who choose technical, math or science careers.

Getting up close and personal with the community is an important part of CDW culture. CDW supports our coworkers’ desire to give back to their communities by offering one paid Community Service Day off per year. Participation is entirely voluntary. Habitat for Humanity |

- A nonprofit housing organization. Habitat seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Hundreds of CDW coworkers volunteer each year to help support this goal of eliminating poverty housing.

American Cancer Society |

- A nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service. Each year, CDW and its coworkers participate in the Relay for Life, an event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs.

- A nonprofit organization that responds to the critical human service, educational and environmental needs of Chicago by creating, managing and leading effective and innovative volunteer service programs, which foster the ethic of volunteerism, promote a sense of community and support their partnerships with community organizations. CDW coworkers volunteer in the Chicago Cares Serve-a-thon to transform schools into beautiful, energetic places to help create a better environment for children to learn and grow. Thousands of volunteers join together on this day to paint a brighter future for Chicago children.
