The board provides the easiest way to double the number of 16550 UART serial ports in your system while using only one system IRQ. The DSerial-PCI's strength lies in its Moko S-1 ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit). This chip-only available on Lava products-consolidates a number of separate components into one chip. This adds efficiency in manufacture, and more importantly, virtually eliminates any possibility of component failure - another reason Lava confidently offers the Lava Lifetime Warranty.
Few serial peripherals or PCs would not benefit from the DSerial-PCI's speed and economical usage of PCI real estate, IRQs, and COM port resources.
