This fits the bill even more than expected, with the front, sides, and back fully covered. I was also able to add some velcro to it, so it sticks right onto my kneeboard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wouldn't buy this again For starters, it takes about five hours and an act of God to wrangle this on the device. Then, if your device isn't perfectly aligned, kiss your ability to use your volume buttons goodbye. Or rather, you can use the up but not the down. I bought this, naively thinking that the two angles would be fine. I failed to take into account that it has to be on a surface with zero incline or the iPad falls out of the base. I've resorted to using poster putty so I can angle it a bit without it falling. I can't count the number of times I've had to pick up off the floor. I guess it didn't shatter, though, so there's that. If you enjoy angst, blistered fingers, and looking at your device from only two angles while it's sitting on a table, this is perfect for you.

I was impressed to get an email saying it had shipped as soon as I purchased it! It is authentic, fits perfectly and this was the only seller (including Amazon) who had the Otterbox that I trusted in ANY color option for my older Apple product. This was hard to find! I like a good deal but I splurge for quality and reliability. I searched other products, stores and sellers and wanted to save your time and put others at ease who are like me It arrived on time, was easily assembled and can be charged while in the case. (This is key for my sanity and mom life with an irresponsible/clumsy 10 year old tween and a curious/destructive 17 month old toddler (both boys). I felt skeptical of all other kids cases but was trying to spend less money. I spent time reading many reviews of other popular colored foamy handled cases but decided finally that Otterbox has never let me down, is the only one I trust and it’s 100% worth it. I feel the same after making the purchase. My iPhone 5 and my iPhone 6S have been in Otterboxes for 5 years have had many drops with absolutely no issues. They work, they last, and will protect my expensive Apple products. At $125 and up (plus sending off your phone for 10 days+) to have Apple fix your screen it is absolutely worth the $$$ and this seller has a very good price. Go buy now, don’t think twice! :)

I feel like it might loosen/damage the cable and charging port over time because of the rubber’s pressure trying to cover up the port. Tempted to cut it though.

The case is sturdy gives good access and has some nice features such as the rests which enable easy reading and typing. I have become an Otterbox fan.

I have purchased an otter box for each apple product I have ever owned and as a result I have never had a cracked screen or other damage to my device despite many, many drops and falls. The kids love them. Case allows them to easily figure out which one is theirs and protects it from their play and use. Overall a great investment for an expensive gift. Wish they had more color option in the case. At the time ordered they only had the blue and the berry color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bomb-proof! After dropping my first iPad twice, I realised I needed something more sturdy than a smartcase. So, for my new iPad, I got an Otterbox Defender. It's fab - really robust, with a removable hard cover for travelling (doubles up as a support). The screen is covered; the back is protected by a hard shell and the corners are covered by the hard shell and the silicone outer shell. Cons- has turned my slim, lightweight iPad into a Play School item. But it won't get broken. The cover has a flexible transparent bit for the fingerprint sensor but it does prevent the sensor working properly; I took this bit off, but it seems the chunkiness of the cover interferes with how you place your finger for the sensor, so I've had to go back to the keycode unlock. And I wish it had been available in another colour than black. But hey, my iPad is completely drop-proof!

At first I thought I bought the wrong case, could not return it as I threw the box and stuff away before I put it on. Bought a second one the I knew for sure said iPad mini 4, and same thing....does not match up. I'm at a loss.

Just wish they had more colors as I had to buy two black ones and they will have to distinguish between the two.

I've had my new iPad mini 4 for at least three weeks or more waiting for the case to be released and then to arrive as I refuse to chance damage without the case!! All of my past as well as all future Apple products will have an otter case!!! I dropped my first gen iPad mini from the top of a three story staircase, it landed screen side down other than a few scratches on the otter box the mini was fine!!!! Of course I'd not make habit of doing so but when a dog larger than you wants to "go for a car ride" it's best to have both hands free!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stand redesign has a flaw I purchased this after I recieved an iPad mini 4 for Christmas. I'm a mother of three small children, so I need a case with protection from the inevitable falls. It works great for that. However, it's taken a few more falls because the case doesn't nest well in the stand. I've had the cases for the previous iPad mini designs and they hold the device in the stand very well, and it appears like they've moved the tabs that use to hold the device securely. It's also more difficult to get the device separated from the stand. The home button does allow my fingerprint to be seen, but offers less protection from damage. I'm not sure if this could be remedied, and it hasn't caused a problem in functionality, but I don't let my children use this particular device much. The case has recently had a few parts break, including a part of the hinge on the stand, so hopefully the warranty will be as good as I've heard it is. We'll see.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall I love this case I think Otterbox has once again made one of the most protective cases one can buy for an iPad. I really like the viewing stand that comes with it. The Touch ID sensor is still fully functional through the plastic piece that covers it up. I'm also able to fit a wide variety of headphones and charging cables through the cutouts in the case (including the Amazon Basics cable). The buttons are also very tactile through the case. While the built-in screen protector isn't the worst that I've seen from Otterbox (there's no gap between the protector and the screen of the iPad), I'm having an issue with the "rainbow affect" that's being produced on the screen. I've tried wiping both the protector and screen, but no luck. Overall, I'm a huge fan of this case and would recommend it to anybody who needs a good case for their iPad.

I was so nervous since she is so young and while responsible, is still a child with such an expensive gift. She uses it for school so I worried about it rattling around in her backpack. Now that the Ipad is safe and snug in this case, I don't worry. I trust this will keep it as safe as my Otterbox has kept my phone over the last 3 years--especially when borrowed for selfies by all my girls. p.s. She and her friends "loved, loved, loved" the berry color. p.s.s. Thanks to the mom at customer service who grabbed this and the other case I was considering and walked me through deciding which one would be more kid-proof. Love that customer service!!!

It would've been helpful if the opening around the port were cut out larger. Unfortunately I had to buy a slimmer case to accommodate my device.

One day she was hurrying from work to daycare to home and she realized at home she had lost it her phone between work and home. Her husband used find my iPhone to locate it at an intersection in Alexandria, VA, so she drove back to it. She saw her phone in it's OtterBox case in a lane of traffic, and it was run over a couple of times before it was safe for her to retrieve it. This phone was there for the better part of a hour before she got it back. The case was shattered, the iPhone intact.

I bought two of these for my new ipad mini 4's however when I went to apply them to the product the case does not line up to volume buttons correctly. The rest of the case is seamless and fits perfectly however the volume down button stays pressed and only a portion of the volume up button is exposed. I am assuming this is a defective product because I have never had this issue with Otterbox in the past. The case still provides protection as advertised and is very sturdy. Able to stand up against the trials of a 5 year old and a 2 year old which is saying a lot.

I love the protection of the screen protector as well as the entire device protection that this product offers. The drop protection is what I am most excited about as I have young children who use my device on a regular basis. Also, I think it is worth mentioning that when the stand is snapped on to the back of the device it makes it very heavy (considering how light the iPad Mini is). However, again despite the difficultly of dismantling the Otter Box case and the weight of the device once the stand is snapped on ---- I really love the protection that this product offers my New iPad Mini 4 and I will gladly recommend this to anyone who has invested in an iPad Mini 4. The child has been made aware that it is not waterproof, but that is not an issue when common sense practices are observed. We highly recommend this case to everyone.

When I received an iPad as a Christmas gift from my boss, there was no doubt that I would protect it with an OtterBox. If you are as clumsy as I am, you would be smart to protect your phone and/or tablet with an OtterBox. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! To clean the OtterBox, a rep at the store for my cell phone carrier suggested removing the entire case and cleaning it with just a dry cotton ball. Yes, it works!

The hard shell stand doesn’t work very well. I would appreciate / suggest the option of some type of hand hold “strap maybe” on the back. Even with large hands it is hard to hold. Fortunately I’ve not tested the drop protection yet!

I have every confidence my OtterBox will be up to this challenge. It makes the iPad heavier and thicker but if you are hard on thing, as I am, it is a compromise worth making.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great case Love the case. It's an Otterbox so you know it's the best. Only one improvement that should be made. I really am annoyed with the downward facing flap over the recharging port. It makes it more difficult to charge due to spacing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boom! I've had the otter box now just over 3 weeks. I got it because use my iPad for work. I take it into some heavy industrial places periodically and its held up extremely well so far. It is a little thick when you have the stand clipped to it, but it's not bad at all. It does become slim again when you take off the stand. As for the clear circle in the back, it's solid. Thank God because I was worried that it was literally a while leaving the back of the iPad exposed and it doesn't. It's easy to assemble and doesn't cut off the edges on your screen. I've had experiences in the past with cases not giving you full access to the screen. As of now, I would say I definitely got my moneys worth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The ONLY PROTECTION I TRUST I put my brand new iPad mini 4 into an OTTERBOX DEFENDER case a few das ago. Because of past use, I always use Otter Defenders for my Apple products, I knew how good the protection would be. Well, I was about 8 feet high standing on a ladder and using the iPad to view into a high gutter by holding it high over my head. Looking at the screen I could see inside the gutter without having to climb on the he ladder's top step. What happened next is the reason I always use Otter Defenders. I was trying to get the right angle with the iPad when I lost my grip on it. Down it went falling about ten or eleven feet and landing onto a very hard concrete driveway. It bounced, my heart skipped a beat. As I'm coming down the ladder, as quickly as I could, I'm thinking there is no way the iPad survives. As I picked it up I could not believe that there was absolutely no damage. Not to he iPad or the Otterbox Defender. All ways perfect and operating. With a quick brush off of a barley noticeable scuff on the case back up I went. The Otterbox saved my iPad and life could go on as usual with only a minute of inconvenience. As far as I'm concerned the only protection I'll ever use for my electronics is Otterbox. I have used other similar products and Otter is my one and only choice. Buying direct from their website saved me a few bucks too. Very highly recommend from this long time user.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Setting it up the same as my mini 2 I like the Otter box because I can handle it and not have to worry about damaging the iPad. I did however have to modify the cover so I can use the iPad in my airplane. I mount the cover to a clamp that mounts on the yoke and then snap the iPad into it. To use other mounts I would have to take the iPad out of the Otter Box. I have been using you products for years and will continue to do so.

But now with the case I can still hold the iPad with one hand to read. The case gives the iPad the feel of a 5x7 notebook which I used to use for work. The case provides excellent protection and offers ergonomic means to hold the iPad. If you want ultimate protection and aren't concerned about losing the slim, elegant look of a bare iPad, this is your case. I would never use another case.

Only three very minor issues would be: a little difficult to get the layers of protection off (increasing in difficulty the deeper you get from "minor annoyance" to "tools may be required"), the dust protectors are difficult to access in the default position of the outer removable casing, and the touch pad cover sometimes get wrinkled and requires a moment of dedicated attention to fix. Really insignificant issues. Love it! Highly recommend!

(He'd accidentally dropped mine before getting his own, smaller iPad.) It worked so well, and the warranty policy was so great, that I bought one for myself for my iPad 3. My son is older now and needed more space so I upgraded his iPad to the mini 4. As a result, I needed to get a new case. It was a purchase I was happy to make. They really stand by their products! And the staff are the happiest, most pleasant customer service you will EVER have the pleasure of speaking with! :) I have since upgraded my iPad and have a new case for that as well as for my Samsung G5. I am absolutely a fan!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the case but not the stand I truly love all my Defender Otterbox cases - iPod, iPhone and iPad. What I have found that needs to be fixed is the iPad mini case. The hole in the backside showing the Apple logo needs to be smaller. Because it is so big the stand is not stable in the landscape (horizontal) position. The folding support does not keep the iPad securely, and the iPad mini keeps falling off the stand. See the photos below. The blue on is the iPad mini, and the black one is the iPad Air

A star off because the stand is durable, hard to put on (however I figure it has to be to be durable, and the screen protector sticks to the ipad screen. Love the case would buy again. Fast shipping was a big plus too.
