The instant FBS detects a lapse in the primary line, and switches your system to a backup line. As soon as the signal is restored, it switches back to the primary line. You can configure the FBS to switch to the backup line in three different ways. First, you can configure the switch to either alert an operator or autoswitch if it detects an alarm condition. If autoswitching upon alarm is selected, the Fallback Switch switches to the secondary line even if the management console is not operating. Second, you can manually push the front-panel buttons to switch to a backup line. Third, you can switch via console commands. You can't ask for more versatility than that! The Fallback Switch gives you lots of remote options, too. Manage it locally at a terminal or remotely over a modem. You can determine A/B switch status remotely, saving you the time, trouble, and expense of going to the remote site to attend to the switch. Management is easy with user-friendly help screens to assist you. The FBS keeps out unauthorized users, too. User-programmable password protection keeps tamperers from using the management port. Plus, you can disable the front-panel controls on the remote side, via the management port, keeping curious fingers from accidentally switching lines.
