It was such a great printer in all respects that we set out to find the closest equivalent model, which is this printer. We have had it for a few months now and it shows every sign of being a worthy successor. So far, it is, by far, the best printer we have ever had.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just great! I love this printer. I bought it for the 11x17 feature I use at work but find myself working at home at these days. This thing basically set itself up. All I had to do was put in the Wi-Fi password. I’ve printed off of my desktop over Wi-Fi as well as my iPhone without additional drivers or apps on the phone. I’m going to put that 1 year of ink to the test I think though. The value is unbeatable.

I need to be able to print 11x17 so I am somewhat restricted. I have never used Brother printer before. The price seemed almost too good for what was offered, but the brand had good reviews so I gave it a try. I could not be more pleased. The quality of print is excellent and must say I love the larger ink capacity. I have used the printer for many purposes including photo paper and it is outstanding.

It was a little bit tricky to connect wirelessly to my network, but once connected, it works well. My only quibble would be that the papertray is awkward to get to for quick loading.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Printer ink tubes/print head gets clogged After talking with Brother tech people we have the impression that the new combo printer we originally bought is not appropriate for home owner with occasional use. Instead it is designed for heavy office use. Our experience has been to use printer maybe a few times one day and then several days pass before we use it again. Consequently something about the ink tubes and/or print head gets clogged with dry? ink and eventually the printer will not print properly. No amount of going through the Brother cleaning print head procedures fixes the problem. The replacement printer we recently received from Brother currently works fine, like the original printer functioned when new. In order to minimize the above issue, we now turn off the printer whenever not in use. Hopefully that will prevent the printer from developing the same problems as the original printer. Fingers crossed.

However, it's definitely not the best one I've had. It has portrait as the default setting, which takes it forever to print a page. I've looked through the instructions and also spent a lot of time on the phone with their help line and the representative couldn't figure it out, either. Will never buy another Brother printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Printer with Unanticipated Features We still own a large bed Brother form about 10 years ago but finally threw in the towel and bought the MFC-J5845DW. Great decision great new printer. Have yet to purchase print cartridges, but looks like Brother branded cartridges are reasonably priced when calculated on a per page print basis. Besides great prints, here are a few of other unanticipated features that we like. Very fast printing Able to print directly from iPhone and Android smart phones and tablets. Very stable Wi-Fi system. Able to print two sided pages. Accepts heavy 11x17 photo paper - I am using 61# paper with no feed issues. Print quality on photo paper rivals that of color lasers even on 11x17. Be aware that even though this printer prints 11x17, the max scan size is LR/LGL. Not a big issue with us as we seldom it ever need to scan 11x17 and if we do, then we can scan it sections and use apps to knit together.

This should tell you all you need to know. I just happened to be purchasing a new office chair at the local Staples, and walked past the printers. There is was, the printer I have been patiently waiting for, for nearly 3 years. I grabbed it, put it in my cart, and now I own it. Happy fathers day/ Birthday. 2 weeks apart. Worth every penny.

Obviously the printing quality is excellent (I have owned a similar Brother All-In-One for years, but I have been VERY pleased at the beautiful photos I have been able to print off.....I used a semi-glossy photo paper and the results were crystal clear and true to color. Very happy!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horrific waste of money Tried to make this work for three years now, mostly to justify to my wife spending this much money on an inkjet. It won't do anything that I need it to do, although it's supposed to be able to. Tried to print ledger double-sided, sucks the paper in one way and pops the back panel out ejecting the paper and giving me a paper jam. Card stock will simply not feed from the paper tray, and from the manual feed tray just tells me to clean the rollers, and no support online for how to do that. Does at most five pages before spitting the rest out blank, making me try to figure out which ones I didn't get and feed them again. Can never seem to get the print heads entirely clean, going through six or seven cleaning cycles. I got better service out of printers that cost a third what this did. My second disappointment with Brother, I thought if I'd just spent for the high-end I'd be okay, but remain disappointed. Maybe for some basic print services it would be okay, but for anything special, e.g. anything for which you'd want to spend this much, it always frustrate me. Scanner was excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well constructed, fast, good print quality This printer is mammoth. Don't expect it to slip into a cubby hole. But its "beefy-ness" is a testament to its feature set and its build quality. B&W prints are fast and the start-up of a print job is much faster than our previous Canon photo printer, which would "think" about it and do a little "jig" for awhile before it finally started to print. The full duplex printing is really nice and loader for multi-sheet scans is nice (wish it would full duplex scans, however, but that is seldom needed in my family. Haven't tried printing A3/11"x17" yet, but I do plan to do so as occasionally we have a drawing/schematic that is not very legible at letter size. Have only had printer for a couple of months, but have made a lot of B&W prints, and I'm not sure the expected count of remaining sheets at B&W has dropped much, if at all. Hopefully this will indeed be much less an ink thief than the old Canon printer!

The colors aren’t exactly representative of what you see digitally, but close enough that we don’t really notice in our day-to-day operations. I’ve printed close to 300 pages already and I don’t need new ink yet. That’s amazing and I am so glad!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from prints good Had a few weeks and was using wifi to print and then it wouldn't work so I had to hard wire it so it would work. And there is nothing wrong with my wifi. It is still under warrant, but I didn't want to talk to somebody that I couldn't understand. And I don't have the orginal box it came in. Chances are you wouldn't replace it and way. Had the computer guy out to take a look and he thinks the wifi chip went bad.

Brother has put a lot into the ease of understanding and ease of operating copier. Operation is fast, efficient, quiet, conservative on ink, ect. It even tells you when it is sleeping. Superb, would highly recommend if you are printing less than 100 copies per day.

It's so frustrating having to stop and purchase cartridges or reprint jobs because of skimpy ink. This unit has a monitor to allow you to order and install before getting in ferior quality copies.

Sometimes if it doesn't fit in just right I will keep getting error message upon error message upon error message. If I had to do it again I would never buy this unit and I do not recommend it

The Epson software on my old Epson MFP was intuitive and easy to use. The software on both of my new Brother printers is the opposite. Also, the instructions provided with both printers (laser and inkjet was minimal and sometimes, it is a pain to search online for the solutions to issues.

The cost per page for ink is a fraction of my old printer. The new ink tank system is far superior to my old printer utilizing foam ink cartridge couplng system. The print speed is amazing and the ability to print on 11' x 14" ledger paper is unheard of at this price point.

The printer person at Staples said Brother has the best Customer Service and screen. It sure does. It is big but has all the features and is so fast. I use it for a home office so use a cable to my laptop. Wifi can be a problem here. This model used very large ink cartridges which is a very good compromise between small cartridges and the tanks.

Thus far, machine is as advertised — stingy on how it uses ink - which is beyond fantastic! With my previous two printers, I was purchasing ink cartridges every several weeks & I wasn’t printing a lot in my opinion. Brother’s ink system is what moved me to purchase my first & hopefully last printer for awhile. Printer is fast, quiet, it does take up more space than I had anticipated size-wise, however, this isn’t necessarily a criticism - just make sure you have ample space to situate it before purchasing. I’m completely satisfied with the LCD display & functionality. ADF is great, though it took me a few extra minutes to figure out the rear document configuration. I highly recommend this product & would readily purchase again.

It's time to replace them. My good opinion depends on the availability and price of ink cartridges. So we will see. The software provided is large and hard to get setup right.

A lot of the features are so easy to use that I was able to print as soon as I set it up. If there is any down side, it is that I have problems printing using different size paper. But I believe that is my fault, as I have not used the instructions when I really should have. As far as I am concerned, it definitely rates 5 stars!

I've tried cleaning the color cartridges and reprinting but the same is happening. I gave up. I don't really need that much color printing. I've been printing only in black. Everything else is working fine.

It seems to be quite economic in its use of the color inks, much more so than an earlier HP and the Epson I just replaced. Good, fast printing, too. Some of the control options on the touch pad could be easier to find and use, though, such as switching between the paper trays and the selections of paper types, enlarging or shrinking images. The scanner utilility is great and easy to use. Wonderful scans, also. Overall, I am now a Brother fan!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product; cust. support unavailable weekends My husband and I have had our printer now for 2 months, using it regularly, and overall we love it more than any printer we have used so far by any other manufacturers, and would highly recommend it. PROS: 1 Set up was easy for us (and we are not super-techie type people). We went step by step according to the directions. It took awhile to go through all the steps, but by the time we did it was working without problems. 2) It prints quickly and easily from both our laptops and our iPhones. 3) We love the duplex feature and so far it's been problem-free. 4) We haven't encountered any paper jams or the feeding of multiple pages at the same time. 5) The color quality is good. Not super photo quality, but photos we've printed on regular printer paper have turned out nice and clear. 6) I particularly love having a second tray with decent paper capacity. I am a bookkeeper and use it for printing laser checks. It's nice to be able to have a separate tray in which to load the checks so I don't have to either pull out the existing paper or load them into a tiny-capacity bypass tray. 7) One of the main reasons we bought this specific one is because of it's ink frugality and it's been great not having to install new ink every month like our old printer. 8) I haven't had to print yet ledger size paper, but that's also another reason I bought it. Sometimes I do need to, and I look forward to not having to go to a FedEx store just for that. CONS: 1) It is VERY big for a home or home office printer. We knew that going in, but were not completely prepared for how awkward and heavy it would be. Luckily it's wireless, because it did not fit on the printer side car attached to our computer table. We needed to place it across the room, not close to any of our computers. 2) One day our cable went out and stayed out for a couple days. Because the printer was nowhere near our computers we were unable to print (since we depended solely on wireless). 3) Once our cable was back online we had a difficult time getting the printer to start printing again. The copier feature worked fine, but none of our devices were able to print, even though the printer showed up on our devices as being on and ready to print. Eventually we figured out that we needed to turn everything off (including the printer) and then back on again, and go through the portion of printer setup that includes typing in the info from our wireless router. It did not just automatically remember that info from the prior time and connect automatically when our cable came back on. 4) Customer support options listed on Brother website (email, chat, phone) are not available on weekends, when we needed it (only Mon-Fri, 9-9 Eastern and we're on Pacific time). We wound up using trial and error to get it working again, since the errors messages we were encountering did not show up on Brother's website, nor in Google as a problem others had previously solved and discussed.

I haven`t upgraded my printer in years, so I was excited to try this one out. Was nervous to set it up since I`m terrible at that kind of thing like your technologically-challenged parents terrible but this was super easy. Straight out of the box and onto the shelf, and really clear/simple instructions to download the driver. No joke, start to finish in about five minutes.Considering everything it can do, the size is great. Though make sure you check the dimensions, since it`s still a printer/scanner/copier, and that adds up. I was really impressed by all the functionalities. You can scan documents in a couple different ways and/or print to a couple different trays (with a designated tray for envelopes), all super easy to customize with a small touch screen and keypad. It probably has more functions than I will end up using (does anyone fax anymore?), but I would rather have the option there just in case. What I really like is that all the options are very clear, and I don`t have to navigate a maze of menus to get what I want. Not bragging, but I figured how to scan an image directly to an open file on my computer in a couple seconds no physical connection needed and no need to enter any info :)The best part about this printer is its speed. Double-sided prints are done in less than half the time it takes the commercial-grade printer I use at the office. Scanning is crazy fast too (so fast I didn`t realize it was actually scanning at first), and the screen wakes up really quickly if it was asleep. No waiting around here!The biggest drawback I`ve noticed is that the quality of color prints. The images come out really crisp and the color fills in smoothly, but it is a bit diluted, and not the vibrant contrast I was hoping for. It still prints the true color, but it seems like it could go on a bit thicker. Nothing I would hesitate to use, but enough for even someone like me to notice if looking at it critically. I didn`t notice any of these issues with black/white prints.All in all, I strongly recommend for an all-in-one, very easy to use, and very fast printer/scanner/copier. If you are looking for a really high-quality colored print, like a commercial-grade brochure, I think investing in some better ink cartridges would do the trick, but I would make sure before you purchase! Very happy and excited to start using for larger projects.

I am really happy with how fast this printer produces duplex pages. Most of what I print is fairly saturated with ink and despite this I have never had a page jam, smear, or had any negative experience. It's photo printing is decent though it won't look quite as good as a dedicated photo printer. Overall, I absolutely love this device and am very glad I purchased it.

This printer is easy to use and provides quality printing. Right out of the package, the printer was very easy to set up. The display screen was very helpful and walked me through the set-up very quickly. The printer connected to my WiFi and again, the display screen allowed me to enter my password to connect my laptop. Even better, my iPhone didn`t need any setup. I easily sent a picture directly from my iPhone to the printer and the quality of the print makes me want to get better paper so I can give them out! It`s a little bigger than I would want but for the quality and ease of use this is a great option.

Assembly and set-up: The box that the printer came in was quite large. Aside from size, the machine was very easy to set up. All I had to do was remove the ink cartridges, manual and power cord prior to lifting the machine out of the box. Once removed, there were a few protective plastic sheets that I had to take off. I was able to load the paper tray with my paper. I opened the ink compartment and was able to push in each ink cartridge individually. There is definitely no mess when doing this and it was so simple to do!! I plugged in the necessary cords and was ready to go.Print Quality: The print quality is excellent for printing both text and photos. The pictures that I printed out were very clear and the color on them was crisp. I printed photo directly from my phone using the wireless printing feature. It was so easy. I was able to print on both regular paper and heavy cardstock without any jams or issues. I also used the paper tray and manual feed both for printing some envelopes to mail out and I had no problems with either.Value: I believe with the new Inkvestment feature, the ink costs will stay reasonable which is important to me. The speed of this printer also saves you lots of time. I was happy with how quickly my items were printed, even though this is an inkjet and not a laser printer.Problems: My one issue with this printer is the size. For my own personal use I prefer something that is a little smaller, however I`m willing to compromise that due to the amazing quality of prints that it provided.

I love this printer!The assembly instructions were very clear and made for a totally painless setup process. I started printing right away and haven`t had any notable issues. Loading paper and installing ink were a breeze.I can connect to it through wifi and even conveniently print from my phone that`s my favorite feature. My phone and computer connected with no problem, which is not something that I can say about my previous printers. I`ve used it with multiple types of paper and the quality has been great each time. The machine seems powerful and the paper output is very fast and efficient.There have been a few paper jams, but they`ve been so much easier to fix on this device than on others that I`ve used, so I`m not complaining. One improvement I`d suggest is size, as this printer is pretty big. Overall, I definitely recommend the product.

New Brother printer was easy to set up in a wireless manner to my Mac Mini, 2 iPhones and 2 iPads via a Netgear router. Printing is very fast. Colors are crisp and clear. Honestly the easiest printer setup I have ever experienced. I pulled the printer out of the box, slapped in the ink cartridges, plugged it in and was ready to go. Setting up to my wifi router on the touch screen was simple. Once I had it on my wifi every computer in the house was able to find it easily. including all the android phones and apple tables. Even though it doesn`t officially say it supports chromebooks but the chromebooks had the drivers ready to go and I was able to print with ease. I did not have to plug it in to a computer and set it up. I was amazed how easy it was. I was able to create collages on my phone and print them on high quality paper and had photo developed like quality. Printing was fast and extremely detailed.Scanning with it was a breeze you can set it up to save to the cloud or to a nearby computer, the scanning bed is really high quality I was impressed this machine could handle the work load like a giant copier in the office. I did about 500 prints in one sitting just for the heck of it cause I wanted to see what it could handle. Not only did it handle 500 copies like a champ, but when I opened up the ink cartridge slot to see how much ink it would have consumed and I was shocked to see that the levels had gone down just a little. I have never been fond of inkjet printers because I have always managed to get stuck with ones that just gulped and wasted ink, but boy did Brother design this beauty to sip on ink like fine wine.Overall I give this product a 10/10 because of all the features like envelope printing, sharepoint integration, and overall universal support for every phone,tablet, computer. I highly recommend this All in One. There is so much value for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wouldn't do it again. 1. The ink tanks were attractive. They seem to be operating well. 2. Software and communication is good. 3. Clarity of copies via WiFi is fairly clear. 4. Clarity, and color reproduction from copies made from originals on the scanner glass is well below average. This is not color-specific. Maintenance has been performed a number of times, to no avail. 5. Printed pages exiting onto the paper support is a disaster. No smooth movement or control. In excess of 3 pages and they consistently become jumbled into a pile. This creates a situation where I either must be at the printer for the whole run, or I have to re-assemble the copies into proper order. And if there are not page numbers on the copies, it can take excessive amounts of time and effort to figure out the correct order and assemble accordingly.

The Brother MFC Ink Jet is overall a high quality, easy to use, multi-functional scanner, print, copy, fax machine. Features: The machine was a breeze to get setup - simply plug in, turn on and input WiFi info. The machine was up and running within minutes. The Brother MFC easily connected to phones & pc in our household and there was no problem getting items to print. Settings were easily changed (from double sided, color or black and white, number of copies, etc. The features I liked the best were the app based functions- I was able to scan and create PDFs, send info to my email AND apps like Evernote, Dropbox, etc. I scanned multi page documents and sent them as one file. I can`t emohasize enough: this machine is very user friendly! It has all the features of an office grade machine, but is highlyfunctional for personal use. Quality: the quality of the scan & copy features is above average. Documents were clear and crisp, images printed fine, colors were vibrant and the printing was heavy or too dark. I was pleased with the quality of both the printing and copying features of the machine.I did not have any issues with the machine at all- it is worth noting it is very heavy and a pretty large machine (however, I expected this for a print/copy/fax/scan).

It also requires me to turn it on it does not boot up and I boot up my computer . That isn't a big deal but does gt annoying some times. Performance wise it is fast and reliable .

Call tech support and he said my box must be mislabeled. Ha, tell Office Max that, they have 5 others mislabeled. Also, the pixels make the pictures you print very grainy. Tech support explained how to increase the picture quality and that was a joke. You now have to use 3 times the amount of ink and the printer slows to 1 sheet per minute.

This printer was super easy to assemble and install. The ink was easy to install, although I wish the paperwork had suggested to shake the cartridges in the package before opening. I got some ink splash. The printer calibrated quickly and with no issues. Once connected to my WiFi and apps installed, I could print from any computer or electronic device without any issues. The print was vibrant and accurate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall a very good all-in-one for the money. Overall, I am very glad we bought this printer. The positives include: 1. Whatever the ppm rating, this is one fast printer. No matter where we are in the house on the network, when we say print, the printer responds literally within a second. Once it starts printing, it is done in no time. 2. Although we haven't run a tremendous number of prints through it, I can already tell the ink consumption rate appears lower than our last printer, not a Brother. Every time we turned around the other was asking for ink. 3. Our last printer would go through some kind of exotic self calibration, cleaning, whatever cycle, and that could delay printing a single paragraph page literally one or two minutes. I have never seen this Brother hesitate. 4. The print quality has been great, and the few photos I have printed have been truly outstanding. Printing photos on Fine setting slows down the print, of course, but it is still perfectly acceptable. 5. The printer is simple to use and easy to switch between different paper types and sizes. 6. I love that this printer prints sideways. That brilliant engineering allows the printer depth to be significantly reduced, and it would seem to me to increase print speed. The Negatives: 1. We have had occasion to print a fair number of pages at a time (25 or more pages. Whenever we do, the printer is so fast that the pages get out of order. Each time we have attempted this, we have to unstack all the pages and rearrange them. This is very annoying and time consuming, especially if you don't happen to have page numbers printing at the time. This is my only significant complaint about this printer. 2. I would like to see a few additional features in operation. On my work printer (only slightly more expensive than this one) you can scan one side of a stack of double-sided pages, manually reverse them and scan the other side. The printer will then combine the images in any number of ways to print as you would like. It is completely possible this printer will do this and I don't know it. 3. There are printers that you can upload a number of pictures into the software and the software will arrange all the pictures into the least amount of paper once you specify the size of your photo paper. It then proceeds to print all of them with your approval. Sounds very handy. If this printer didn't mix up that pages coming out, I would give it a 5 star rating, hands down.

Once you start using it, you find that it incorporates many of the same features of the older model. But it also incorporates new valuable features such as a year long ink supply! I highly recommend it.

The MFC-J5845DW is much faster at both printing and scanning. I also like that I can now print from my iPhone. I haven’t had it very long, but so far I’m very impressed.

The copies are very clear and the speed is very good. I hope this will be our last printer purchase as we are both in our sixties. Ink purchases are expensive no matter what you buy but I do like the automatic feature ink purchasing that comes with you product. I’m sure you seek to steer costumers away from buying generic products. Thanks!

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion.I homeschool both of my children, so I`m constantly printing, faxing, scanning, or copying something- whether it be schoolwork, lesson plans, tests, documents, etc. Initially when the printer arrived I was taken aback because it`s a bit heavier and bulkier than I originally thought, but after taking a few moments to read through the instructions, I was able to assemble it without any issues (or aide from my husband). I really appreciated how thorough and detailed the instructions were because it made the assembly and setup a whole lot easier and hassle-free for me. The fact that it comes with a years supply of ink was a huge plus for me. The colors are bold and bright. I`ve printed a few documents, homework and schoolwork packets, and even tried printing out a few photos onto glossy picture paper just for kicks, and was so very pleased with how good the print quality was- the end results were excellent. I was afraid the colors would be dull, weak and runny, but in my experience they were bright, bold, consistent and didn`t run/bleed at all.I`ve used many printers in the past, but none have been multi-use like this all in one inkjet, nor did they print as fast as this one does, and the best part is it`s not super loud and annoying either. Out of everything this Color Inkjet has to offer, my favorite feature is the Brother Page Gage- it tells YOU when you`re low on ink, therefore you wont have any unwanted surprises pop up, like running out of ink in the middle of trying to print and fax important paperwork before their deadline.Having a printer, scanner, copier and fax machine all in one place is so convenient in my day to day life and has made homeschooling my children alot easier and cheaper since I`m not having to pay to print or copy papers at Staples anymore.This is definitely s product that I would recommend to others, especially if they have a home office or work in a small business/office.

The printer arrived in great condition without any damages. The printer was very user-friendly when setting it up for use. I like the fact that it can be connected via wi-fi. When printing documents, the color is very rich and clear; with no fading or smudges on the paper. The printer was a bit larger than I anticipated, but it did not take up much room. The copying and scanning feature is very efficient. Overall, I am very satisfied with the product and would highly recommend it.

This is the best printer we have ever owned. The new type ink seems to last and last. It is so quiet and it will do everything and more. It is much better than the HPs we have been buying and throwing away for years. This is worth the money and not that much more than a smaller cheap printer.I have to say, this printer is amazing! Super simple setup - both direct and Wi-Fi, easy operation, very intuitive, prints beautifully! The pics alone that I can print on it are stunning in color! In addition, the versatility is great! The cost of the cartridges are very affordable! Would recommend this printer to anyone! :

Once needed it prints within seconds. The quality is excellent.1 Year ink supply in large cartridges is absolutely awesome. Cons: Certain features are very hard to figure out. 1The unit prints both sides of a paper. I still don't know how to turn this off. 2) no matter how often I open the rear feeder, the unit always pulls paper from the lower tray.

The scanning function works well but sometimes you have to wait and press scan a second time before the function starts. I also find the paper tray a bit inconvenient to get paper in and out. Too many plastic tray pieces/ cover. Otherwise a pretty dependable printer.

Lots of nice features like 2-sided printing, 11 x 17 printing. I had trouble getting the drivers set up properly on my computer, but the telephone support was good and solved the problem.

The great part is I have not had any paper jams or trouble with it printing because paper wasn't loaded correctly. My old pronter jammed everytime I added paper. Highly Reccomend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fastest Printer I`ve Owned I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. This Brother all-in-one printer came with easy-to-follow instructions so we had it installed and connected to our WiFi and ready to print in less than 10 minutes. It came with a CD that included drivers, but my Mac doesn`t have a CD drive so I loved that the instructions also provided a link to the most updated drivers on their site. It truly is an all-in-one as it provides the capability to print, scan, fax, copy on virtually every possible medium including envelopes and letter-, legal-, and ledger-size paper. I have been testing the printer for over two weeks and I am seriously impressed. My favorite thing is the speed. My previous printer was not that old, but this one makes it almost feel antiquated in terms of speed. From clicking the print button to retrieving the printed copy is literally seconds. My 2nd favorite thing is the ink cartridges. These ink cartridges promise to hold enough ink for two years! Not having to constantly purchase/replace ink is a HUGE pro for me. I also love the ink placement right in front. My 3rd favorite thing is that it prints on legal and ledger. I had to feed legal papers manually on my last all-in-one printer, but this Brother printer has eliminated that nuisance and even allowed for larger ledger-size paper as well. My 4th favorite feature is the ability to print directly from cloud, mobile, or from USB device. I did have some difficulty with connecting via AirPrint but after restarting the device, it worked just fine. I had this same issue with my previous printer so it might have more to do with my network than the printer itself. I only really have one con, and that is the guard on the paper tray. The paper guard that is not hinged. For me, that makes loading paper awkward. My natural instinct is to fold up that guard and load paper. Since it is not hinged, it always comes off. I have to lay the guard on top of the printer, load the paper, then replace the guard. The guard really isn`t needed unless you`re printing on legal/ledger, but I`d rather leave it in place to ensure it isn`t misplaced. I just really wish they had hinged it to the paper tray so it would fold up during reload than snap back into place quickly. I`m excited to see exactly how much ink this printer will save me. If it lives up to its potential of years without replacing the ink, I`d definitely pay the asking price. Ink is EXPENSIVE so not having to constantly buy multi-packs that add up to hundreds means this will be a great investment that will earn back the extra money in no time.

It is larger than I expected so I had to re-arrange things to find a place where it would fit. My fault for not looking at the specs. But it was worth the effort. I don't know if I would have been happy with the smaller model MFC-J995DW because it lacks some of the features of this one.

We bought the Brother printer because we never have to go thru the hassle of constantly running out of ink and/or going out to buy more ink. And we really don't print much. The ink was also expensive. With our new Brother printer, the ink lasts up to a year and the ink is inexpensive. It prints great, fast, and quietly. It has today's modern technology and has the largest touch screen among other brands. We love our new Brother printer and highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy with the printer I bought this printer to print 11 by 17 plans for permitting.then found out they would accept the 11 by 8.5 so I went ahead and. Print 11 by 17 since I already paid for the printer.I did have too make a copy of my property which is on 11 by 17. You can't make it direct copy from it 11 by 17 to 11 by 17 so what I had to do is photograph 11 / 17 with my phone and then download it to computer crop it and put an 11 by 17 paper which work fine .so far the print looks like it works very good I've only printed about 50 sheets 11 by 17 and about 10 sheets eight and a half by 11 and you can direct copy 8.5 by 11 the prints were very clear and crisp. Overall I think this is a very good printer nothing like my Epson every time you turn around I have to put ink in it I'll clean the heads or both. I guess you get what you pay for

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unusual experience. I purchased my printer at Staples. Got it unpacked and started using the printer and had nothing but problems with paper jams. Sometimes there was an actual paper jam and other times no jam. Went back to Staples and told them and they said I possibly could have a lemon printer. They said I should return the printer before my 14 days were up. Returned the printer and got another just like it. With the second printer I have not had one paper jam and very happy with the performance of the second machine. Was very happy that I returned the defective machine to Staples within the 14 day time frame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delighted This printer has all the features I wanted in a new one. This is my third Brother printer. The first one lasted me five years when a small feeder groove broke. I figured I'd gotten my money's worth out of it and because of its age I probably wouldn't be able to get it fixed any way. The second Brother printer is a laser which I use only for special printing due to the cost of toner cartridges. This third Brother printer replaced the one that broke and has more features. I'm very happy with it. I recently had to replace my laptop and when I discovered that it didn't have a DVD player, I panicked thinking I wouldn't be able to install the driver. Fortunately Windows 10 identified both printers and installed the appropriate drivers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love It I purchased this printer based on the features that I that I saw online. I needed a printer that would allow me to make 11x17 prints. I am VERY happy with the printer. It was easy to set up and it is easy to use. The quality is beyond outstanding

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great printer! This printer has been great so far. The only thing i don’t love is the size, it is much larger than I expected. However, works amazing fast clean prints and easy to connect to devices. Great purchase just wish it was smaller.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not as economical as they lead you to believee I am disappointed in the amount of ink We are using. The ink is not easy to find locally. If I purchase the ink on the internet the prices are lower of course but I usually have to wait 3 to 4 days to receive it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Printer My previous printer/scanner was a Canon Pixma 892 and was not up for the job of heavy printing. The printer/scanner is very quiet and it prints very quickly. I am very satisfied with the easy set up and connection to my home network.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what we needed! (almost We have had the MFC-J5845DW for a couple of months now so here goes. Upgrade to Win 10 caused both of our existing printers to stop working, too old but worked perfectly. :( Originally wanted the 6845 because it could scan/copy/print duplex but it was back ordered due to the Corona Virus in China and we figured we didn't really need that function - UNTIL the day after we got the 5845 and had a use for the duplex function. LOL. We'll probably never need it again! The printing is sharp and fast and while we didn't purchase it for it's ability to print photos, with some tweaking of settings it actually prints a very good photo. So far It doesn't seem to be an ink hog and in fact seems very efficient. The scanner is fast and with a lot of usage it has not jammed like some other brands I've had experience with. I should add that I have mine hooked up via USB. WiFi in my area is weak and sketchy at times and can't be counted on. We Like It!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes good 8 1/2x 11 copys When I went to buy a printer to replace what I had, I was wanting a printer that would copy 11x17 forms to an 11x17 paper. The salesperson said it should and showed me where the form would need to go located in the back. I gave my other printer back to the seller since I no longer needed it. Turns out that I cannot copy an 11x17 form to a 11x17 paper. The printer says it takes 11x17. I guess it just doesn't copy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Operation and Quality The printer quality is very good black/white and color. Love the ink life versus other printer mfgs. Somewhat comber some to print to the back feeder. Would prefer to select from the computer instead of the key pad.

The unit prints very nice and clear colors the ink that comes with it so far is only half used and I print a LOT of pages. The only issue I have is that it jams every once in a while when using the dual sided option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This printer is a joke !!! This is the worst Brother printer I have ever owned. We purchase this printer for our small business and it has been nothing but a nightmare. The printer constantly loses its internet signal. We constantly have to keep turning off and on again. The printer will not hook up wireless to older computers. Half of the time when you push the scan button on the home screen, the printer just sits there and does nothing. For a small business, this printer is awful. Wish I could get my money back.

I particularly like the large ink tanks and consequent reduction in operating costs. I have used it for facsimiles, scanning and printing. The performance of each of these tasks has been very good.

I have had no issues so far with the dependability or quality of this machine. The wireless feature works flawlessly! This printer fits all of my needs and was an affordable price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great All-in-one printer Overall, I think this is a tremendous all-in-one printer. However, the Brother software is horrible. It makes it very difficult to make simple setting changes such as, changing from one-sided to two-sided. It's nice having two paper feeds but, I still haven't figured out how the second paper feed works. The machine always insists that I put paper in the main tray. I would love to leave some checks in the upper tray and be able to select it. The software does nothing to help
