My workflow has been to create labels for reuse with occasional one-time-use labels. I save the labels to be reused in the label maker's memory and then when I create a one-time-use label, I erase whatever label is showing and type in my new label. If I need to get one my old labels, I just open it back up from memory. I have found the flag label useful for labeling phone charger cords.

We opted for the A/C corded one. Some of the tape we had on hand was compatible, but other cartridges were not so be aware of that. I love this machine and use it often.

I carefully read the instructions and was confused by the dizzying number of available functions and features the printer has. Love the Qwerty keyboard. Love the bigger size and we have used it for all our labeling needs beyond household and kitchen including notebooks, etc. Highly recommend to all families and especially to my fellow OCD organizing types. Note: Be sure to double check the color of the label tape when reordering. We prefer the white label with black ink. We ordered wrong color - clear with black ink. We use on notebooks now that we opened the box but we prefer the white tape. PS. Brother, is there anyway that you can put labels inside the labeler that shows how to install the replacement label tape PLUS on the bottom with condensed version of instructions on options? So many. Those instruction manuals are SO unfriendly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works OK(?) but one question This product makes very nice looking labels, but the power block seems to have problems: If I leave the power block plugged in and just disconnect the low voltage output wire , then when I later reconnect it I sometimes get shock from the exposed metal tube that is used as one of its terminals (the other terminal is set back where it can't be touched. Is that really how you expect it to work? It bothers me enough that I can not use the power block at all, and have to run the label maker from batteries, which is what I was trying to avoid by getting this model in the first place!!!

There are many features that one might not use but is nice to know they are there. Is fairly straight forward in most features. Some look up is needed for a few features. One minor negative is I feel tape is too log. Trying to correct what they call the margin, you must cut one side of the tape on your own.

The labels themselves are somewhat expensive so we try to print several at the same time (run together to reduce wasted label material included when making individual labels. One of the key reasons we bought this particular model of label maker is because it comes with a UL Listed AC Adapter.

This label maker is no exception, it is a well-made product, sturdy, well designed, with well-labeled buttons. My only suggestion is to replace the need to add external batteries and insert internal rechargeable batteries.The A/C adapter could be used to charge the batteries as needed.

However- the LCD display should be a lot brighter, on both my label machines (PT-H100. It is difficult to understand why Brothers cannot improve , even slightly, the LCD brightness.

There are so many options for tape sizes, fonts & font sizes, frames, etc. I have used it for many different things - including file folder labels. I love the fact that you have the option to print vertically. It is a great, fun, practical item. And as a bonus, my 6 and 8 year old grandkids love to print out labels, themselves, when they visit. They know how to work it. They love it too!

I wish the instructions were a tad easier because I wasted about a quarter of a cartridge trying to figure out how to get the right length label with two lines of bold text. But once I figured it out, the labels came out looking great and are easy to read in the garden. I don't have to bend down to see what each says. (HINT: Once you get your label the way you like it, write down the settings and tape it to the bottom of the machine to make it easier later on when you want to duplicate the same label. I affixed my labels to Gardenmate metal plant holders and they have been in my garden for 5 months, in the sun. I used several cartridges, clear and solid white and both are performing great. No fading or peeling off the metal.

My only issue is it automatically adds so much space on each side of your label which wastes a lot of tape. I would prefer to set that space to the length I want. The adhesive on the tapes adheres permanently on first application so be careful where you put it. Great product overall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The features are endless. Almost too many choices I own a lot of fishing gear. A lot of fishing gear. I have many fishing rods, I have many fishing reels. I have many bags of soft plastic lures. I have many hard plastic (crank baits lures. I have many sizes of fishing hooks, fishing line and other accessories, i.e., attractants, spinner baits, bullet weights, barrel weights, ad-infinitum. Without a proper sorting and storing system, chaos exists. So, this winter I am spending my time sorting, labeling, sorting, labeling, also ad-infinitum. I suffer a bit from dyslexia and A.D.D., So-- finding stuff that's right in front of you is challenging. Now, with very readable labels placed on very proper storage vessels, well, I will let you know and show you how it looks in a future updated review. Thanks for a good product. Now if it only lasts. PS: I use my power cord all the time, but I know the batteries are there if I need portability.

Tape options and colors are many. Printing options and fonts and pictures and other settings are myriad. Biggest problem is you'll have to control yourself and not label everything in the house.

Since receiving PT-D400AD, I have labeled all my networking cabling, computers, electronic components parts drawers, and some of my DVD storage cases. My only problem is not having enough label catridges! I am glad I purchase the PT-D400AD. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Buy! This machine is very cool! It's easy to use and so versatile with its choices of fonts and graphics. Being able to operate from battery power as well as through the ac adapter makes this guy versatile at home or away from the maddening crowd!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use. Very nice labels This product is easy to use and makes very nice labels. It was a very cost effective way to label the small parts that I need to stock for the company. It is also useful for others to find the part they want very easily. IT has helped to keep the parts bins organized, and make inventory much easier. The other end of the shop actually has the more advanced model, and they use it quite a bit as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tool We have three groups using the Church stage with instruments and microphones. In order to maintain a BASE setup for all groups to set the cabling back to BASE we created a physical diagram and labeled every cable connection, microphone and instrument with the the Brother PT-D400AD it was a breeze, and we also labeled all of the cables coming into the back of the mixer. Now even without a diagram each team know where every single cable gets plugged. Now we spend more time prating that pulling cables!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from still exploring all the things my labeler can do I love my labeler. Helps keep me organized. Use it in my art work. The added features this model has over my old model (which I passed onto my daughter makes it a great investment. Love that I can use multiple tape widths too.
