Don't waste the parallel port on your inkjet, laser, or high speed printer. This cable uses the USB port on your PC or hub, so your parallel port remains free for a zip drive or scanner. Forget the hassles of IRQ sharing by adapting your printer to USB. If you have multiple printers, you can eliminate the need for a switchbox by connecting each printer to a USB port.

The device is fully transparent to the user, and is ideal for true bi-directional communication. This adapter auto-negotiates hardware recognition for faster protocol setup, and is fully plug-and-play compatible.
C2G 6ft USB to C36 Parallel Printer Adapter Cable - parallel adapter is rated4.61 out of5 by18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from works well, but...The product works perfectly. I expected it to be the LPT port, and it ended up (obviously) being the USB port that I needed to point the printer to. The biggest problem with this product is that if your using it, you are probably using it with an old printer that windows 7 or newer may not have drivers for. look first. I had to hack a driver to get it to work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not work on some printers. When I bought a new computer, it didn't have a parallel port for my HP 6L laser printer. This cable appeared to be the best option to keep running my old laser printer. But I find that this is one model that these cables evidently are ineffective on. Do a web search first to see if this cable will work on your printer. I searched after finding it wouldn't work, and it became obvious that there is something about this model of printer, and evidently a few others, that is incompatible with these types of cables. Nothing against this cable, I just should have done my homework first.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works better than expectedI had an old HP LasarJet L6 than only had a C36 interface. This cable quickly connected the printer to USB port and Windows XP immediately recognize the printer and it works prefectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No need to buy new printer! This product allowed me to use my old HP LaseerJet 4P with my new computer so I didn't have to buy a new printer. My department saved hundreds of dollars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works EXACTLY as describedI saw some comments saying that it was incompatible with their HP LaserJet printers. I wanted folks to know that it absolutely, positively works with LaserJet 4000 & 4050 printers. Bought 2 cables. My only con is that it is 6' so I had to rearrange one of the work areas. If you read and follow the directions to the tee, it will work exactly as described. Pinky swear. The first installation I did, I skipped a step and it didn't work. Note: use Windows Update to grab the printer where applicable if it isn't on the list
