DYMO XTL 300 LABEL MAKER is rated 2.69 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big step down from the Rhino 5200/6000 Poor battery life, slow interface, fragile construction and terrible handling of serialized labels make this product very much worse than the Rhino series. Some problems potentially could be solved with software updates but the software fails to update 100% of the time so I guess the world will never know.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Obnoxious. I have 2 techs, one without the case and one with the case. Both of my techs are responsible and take excellent care of their equipment. Both of the XTL labelers have experience mechanical and electrical self deconstruction. The internal circuit board comes loose. The cut button has broken and the springs have shot out. on both- The software is slow but the PC integration and ability to save and recall label designs is awesome. So, the unit is obnoxious because of it's potential.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Unit was DOA - Would not recommend I bought this to replace one of our missing Rhino 6000's. The XTL 300 is a disappointment after having the 6000. The Rhino had physical buttons, whereas the XTL 300 has cheap membrane coated microswitches that won't last a week on our shop floor. Also, with the way the cutting switch stands out from the body, it will be broken by the first 36" drop. The 6000 had user-changeable batteries, the XTL 300 has a battery cover that is screwed down with a tiny watch screw. Otherwise the battery cover is not attached and will get lost on the first battery change. The battery is also much harder to remove, requiring a pry tool and a tiny Philips screwdriver. The label cartridge door has a flimsy catch that somehow won't release the door when trying to open it, yet flops open during attempted usage. The screen is very soft plastic that will be scratched by a sideways glance. Those are only the faults I could find visually, because I couldn't actually test the first unit's printing ability because it was broken out of the package and wouldn't sense the presence of a label cartridge. The only saving grace is that Dymo is sending a replacement after I waited on the phone for 42 minutes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst purchase ever I bought this through Amazon. After one week of customs delay finally received it today. Unfortunately the unit is not working, it doesn’t recognize the cartridge provied with the unit. After i insert the serial number manually and try to print I get a message that the cover is open while it is actually closed. Extremely disappointed. Waiting for immediate action/response

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best label machine i had ! Best dymo machine I owned. I have had many markers and they have always been complicated. My cuter broke down after about 2 years but bought a new cuter cheap so it is like new again! Will not change machine for a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Numerous issues I purchased this XTL300 a few months ago and found when trying to print patch bay labels that the center to center spacing cannot be adjusted finely enough +/- 1/16"; it prints accumulating length errors. As well, often it will print a black band across the beginning of the label, causing the remaining 18' of label to go to waste. I wasted two hours on a jobsite trying to print a label from a laptop running windows 7. It worked fine a few days previous, but on this particular occasion, it refused to print. I tried entering the data directly on the XTL300, but it still wouldn't print. After removing and installing the print cartridge and unplugging / replugging the power supply, it started working again. For the money I paid, I would expect a better quality product. I have to admit I was hesitant to purchase another Dymo product due to my past experiences with a RhinoPro 5000. That particular machine would cause the print cartridge to jam up after it was about half used. After a year I had a box of half used, damaged cartridges, and my inquiry about warranty was flatly rejected. I would not put these machines into any professional usage category.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sending back for repair a THIRD time I have two of these and I regret purchasing both of them. I started with one, but it jammed constantly and I had to keep throwing away the cartridges. They aren't cheap either! Then, one day, the back cover on it just wouldn't close all the way so it wouldn't print. No idea why. So I sent it back to them for repair but had to get my job done so I bought a second unit, figuring I would keep it as a spare. Within months, the second unit stopped working too. It wouldn't read the cartridges. It's worth noting that both times I sent the units back, I was given brand new units in return, not my old units. Well, just one year later and one of the new units stopped working! The spindles just grind now and won't turn the reels in the cartridge. I'd expect better craftsmanship for $300!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Storage Case / Labels I recently purchased this printer and am thrilled with the ability to create labels on the computer. The storage case is much better than those provided with my previous Dymo printers. The tabs that latch the old cases would eventually fall off. I do find one aspect very ionic. When you store the extra labels in the case, you can see the model number of the label but not the description. I feel compelled to use my label maker to print labels to more easily identify my extra labels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "I Like...." I purchased the kit on Amazon two years ago -it still works great. This label printer is BIG step up from the cheap ones. I use this printer to label Ethernet cables. It makes the job less tedious. It was a good investment. I recall one of the cartridges that came with the unit did not work. Dymo quickly sent a replacement -no questions asked. So far I've gone through 4 - 5 label cartridges without issue. My only complaint is that it does a poor job printing black on yellow vinyl labels. It takes the printer a couple attempts to warm up. Even then the quality is barely acceptable. Again, this is only an issue for the yellow vinyl labels. All their other labels print look great. Battery life is not fantastic but it also runs with its power cable -no big deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome machine I had to buy this a couple weeks ago for a job. It was the only one in stores that could do 3/4. I didn’t like the price until I used it. It’s the first thing I bought that feels like I got what I paid for. I got the case with it, best case I’ve seen. I did have one problem when I put cartridge in, it didn’t read but I did not press it all the way in. Love the save feature. Only issue is that it won’t get a good print on labels at times, but may be a bad cartridge. Still not charged it for a week, used every day and still at two bars. Other than couple issues, love the machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from XLT-300 Not recognizing cartridge I did an update and did not fix the issue. I do not use this much, about 15 labels so far. It was recognizing the original cartridge but when I installed a new cartridge it would not recognize it and now it doesn't recognize my original one? Any suggestions on why?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made and great labeler! Hi, I have had the XTL-300 for about a week now and this thing is great. It is extremely well made and durable, way for industry and a road warrior like myself. I love the ease of use, the durability and the reliability. However, I do find the unit is a bit large and heavier for a mobile Engineer as myself. I realize this is not a :mobile" model. I was wondering, will Dymo be releasing a smaller unit, say like an XTL-200 that would maybe only allow 1/2" labels? Something of this exact design and smaller would be awesome for a mobile worker as myself. Thanks.
