Not a bad MFP - but there are better
We are testing several MFP type printers to put in our assistants offices. This model is a good size, not too large, but not so tiny you can't print a ton of documents to it before it gives up the ghost...aka - the duty cycle.
It would probably be the one we chose had the ADF scanning not been limited to 300 dpi. We have a nameless few that want 400 or higher and there just isn't a setting for that when scanning through the ADF.
Speaking of scanning, it's a bit slow in the ADF to pull docs through, process and get them to the destination. Not half as bad as the M527 which was just a full on pig...like scan, go get some coffee, come back and ohh wait...there it is, finally!

What I expected from mid priced HP
This product was purchased to replace an aging fax machine and a HP 4100 Laser Jet printer. Bonus for me with a built in scanner. It works just like my other HP printer, same noise level. Only a couple things bother me. When printing picture heavy pdf files, it will print page 1, wait ten seconds then page 2 spits out, wait ten seconds, etc... Not fun when you are printing 25 pages like that. Could use more internal memory. Second thing I do not like is the touch screen. All in all easy to use, except when manually typing in fax numbers.

Good lower cost MFP
We needed a printer that could fax, copy and scan to email, print at a fairly high speed with a fairly high monthly usage at a fairly low price. We added the paper tray and it is taking the place of a Sharp copier at a much lower price.
The initial toner cartridge is quite small, so make sure to purchase a replacement with it or you will run out of toner.

good all in one
We needed to replace an old physical fax machine, so we combined the fax and printer into one device saving on power, space, and power. The users like having a simple copier in their area.
The only downside is the height. I have cabinets above the unit so it is tight to put a flat piece of paper on the scanner. HP makes great printers, and so far this on is a really good unit
