Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect docking station for ThinkPad T14 This docking station is a perfect fit for my ThinkPad T14 laptop and exactly what I was looking for. I just hooked everything up and it worked perfectly. No software or drivers required. It has 2 - DisplayPort jacks which makes it easy to connect my 2 DisplayPort monitors to it. The laptop easily connects to the docking station and keeps all the cords out of the way and to the back. Comes with a separate power supply so I can leave the other power supply in my laptop bag and just pop out my laptop out of the docking station and into the bag and go, without having to disconnect the power supply. It isn't designed for portability but I don't need it while traveling as the laptop itself has all the ports I need while on the road. Do check the specs to make sure it is compatible with you specific model of laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Decent dock so far, does slow down boot up though Nice mechanical dock, so far no issues using it with my ThinkPad T15 Gen 2, does slow down boot time though. Undocked, laptop boots up to the login screen in about 11 seconds. Docked with lid left closed, it's 25 to 29 seconds to get booted to that login screen on my external monitor which is a 4k monitor hooked up via display port. Not horrible but expected it to be faster like my Lenovo T470 laptop on it's mechanical dock (which is the older type, C13 type dock. That combo doesn't have nearly as bad of a slow down when started up in the dock with the lid closed.

The Pro Docking Station provides a much cleaner desktop than the USB-C docking station which had too many exposed wires. The Pro also provides the ability to lock the laptop if you choose. The small power cable connection always came loose on the USB-C unit and this Pro is a full size USB-A.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Pro Dock (not the old version) I purchased this dock out of necessity when I ordered a new P14s. My previous dock was not compatible with the new laptop. Overall, the dock works well and does what it should. The updated tech is an advantage (USB-C, high speed USB, etc). Using multiple monitors is easy with multiple digital display outputs. I just wish I didn't need to buy a new dock every time I buy a new computer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Upgrade to firmware required. This Docking Station works well once the firmware is upgraded. It requires changing some BIOS settings which aren't documented. I had to find the modification in ThinkPad forums. Once installed it runs 2 monitors, one is a 4K 36", quite nicely.

After a week when I moved my desk to a new location, the dock stopped functioning. My screens wouldn't come back up. A tech looked at the setup and checked cords. No power was going to the dock anymore. A week is too short a time for a failure.

This may be a bit premature as I only had my X1 Carbon connected to the docking station for 2 days when it stopped charging the notebook. I have had the priviledge of having Thinkpads for over 20 years (since the 310) and have had docking stations with all of them (new machine every 3 years). The XI is the first one that I have had that I don't think the docking station is made for the long run. The way that X1 docks using the two ports at the back of the X1 are poorly supported so when it locks into the dock it puts a lot of strain on those two connections. I see this a single point of failure as one of those ports is the AC connection for plugging the X1 in when you are on the AC adapter. If this connection gets messed up your dead - you can't charge the unit. All the other Thinkpads I have had had the docking port on the bottom and then a regular plug on the back for the AC adapter. With 2 ways to connect you were sure you had a way to use your notebook. Not so with the X1. I had my X1 for 2 days when it stopped charging. I ended up sending it to depot maintenance and won't have it for up to 3 weeks. Not a great start for this model and dock station!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great association for the ThinkPad X1C I bought this 2 weeks ago for my office use and found it is a great one for my Thinkpad X1C 2018. I have my Thinkpad w540 working for years and it's heavy to carry on, so I bought the x1c a year ago. X1C is good, but I just need more USB-A port for my phone charging, to connect my USB drive, to connect my external keyboard and mouse(you may say it is not necessary, but I did need that. So this docker works perfectly for me. There are 2 HDMI ports, 5 USB-A port, and 1 USB type c port, even one for wired internet port, I guess someone just liked to be wired in the office. Put my x1c on it and lock it, nothing wired, just start to work. And it lifted the X1C a little up, which is good for typing, it makes my arm comfortable. Highly recommend for this docker for your office use, it is great to have. this docker just works perfectly with my x1c 2018.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Dock that you need As with many of us, we have increased employees who work from home. As such our company decided to go with laptops for many of our employees. We chose our lenovo knowing they have a great set of accessories, with this dock being no exception. I Needed to review a few of the docks to verify this was the one that we needed, but when here in our office, we needed dual monitor support via HDMI. We grabbed two displayport to HDMI cables and got this dock all set up. It is extremely convenient to be able to have network, and wireless keyboard/mouse setup and ready, simply place the laptop on the dock and lock it in place! I would definitely recommend to anyone who needs a laptop for productivity and workflow, especially if you want desktop functionality in your laptop being able to easily project to two screens.

Most recently, I purchased a ThinkPad Pro Docking Station with a ThinkPad L490 and ThinkVision T25m-10 25 monitor as a Christmas gift for my wife. She loves it. I knew she would because I have the same for myself. The docking station for our desks are a must. A couple of clicks and you have your laptop in hand and are on the couch or on the road. A couple of clicks and you are back working at the desk. So simple, clean and convenient. Do yourself a favor and simplify!

Primary problem is I think it blocks a vent. When you dock it, after awhile the fan turns on and it gets fairly hot.

Although I knew how the docking station worked before I bought it, I was still surprised at how seamlessly it allows me to plug into an entire work station. In the morning I often work at home while the kids are asleep, so I can pop out the laptop, work upstairs for a bit, and then when I start the day (also working from home, I go down to my home office and pop it in and my entire work station is ready to go.

It saves the hassle of having to connect and disconnect the laptop from the all the ports. For at home use, unless you are planning on moving around your apartment a lot with your laptop, it marginally increases functionality. I will say, one of the nicer things about it is that it adds a bit of an angle to the laptop (as seen in the pictures) that makes typing a bit easier. With the myriad of ports in the back, I would highly recommend this for multi monitor users in an office setting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For the love of God why did y'all make it worse!? As others have mentioned, you have to line this up perfectly before you can engaged the slide mechanism. I have spent up to 10 minutes at times to get it back on the dock. What is wrong with you lenovo? This thing is so expensive and does not work as well as the old docks where you just click it in. I regret buying this but the Thinkpad I have is a dream to use and needed a docking solution. I had an older thinkpad and dock station and never had any issues. Didn't think anything of it when I ordered this redesign but it SUCKS! But once it finally slides in it works as it should. I still haven't figured out when I'm putting it in perfectly or not. It seems to change every time and I'm just reluctant to take it off the dock unless I have to. DO NOT BUY THIS! And I hope Lenovo offers a replacement program for all of us who trusted them in buying this thing with a better one! One thing to note. I bought the bigger extended battery for my thinkpad that sticks out a bit. The dock has a recessed tray to accommodate the size but I've noticed I have slightly better luck clicking my laptop in when I take the battery out.

The only strange thing is that there is not a clear indicator of the optimal positioning for the laptop. I always end up fiddling with it until it snaps in the right place. I am not sure if this is a function of the machine begin so light as I never experienced this when I had the X230 or the T460. Other than this small detail the unit is solid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Docking made easy Being a techie and programmer who works both from home and in office, having a docking station lets me easily transition between both environments, allowing me to have the creature comforts I have grown accustomed to in the office. The ThinkPad Pro Docking Station is the perfect companion to my 6 generation X1 carbon and makes docking and undocking the X1 seamless and painless. The setup is simple and quite straightforward. I was able to get it out of the box and my PC docked in less than 5 minutes. No manual required! It comes loaded with all the connection options you need for modern peripherals, including 2 DisplayPorts which allows you to connect dual external monitors. If you have an older monitor as I do then you can get an inexpensive cable to convert from HDMI to DisplayPort. I love typing on my X1 keyboard and this docking station does not take away from the experience. As a matter of fact, I find that it compliments experience by elevating the keyboard just right. I would highly recommend this unit for both office and home.

We love the ability to quickly dock and un-dock from our peripherals with a simple flip of the switch. One thing we didn't know before we bought them was they don't support HDMI. While this may not be a problem to enterprise clients to whom this is more likely to purchase them, everything we use in our SMB office is HDMI. Now the only trouble we are having is finding out of the port replicators for the DisplayPorts are dual mode or if we will need to purchase active adapters.

My only issue is that the docking station would not lock solidly into the Lenovo Dual Platform Monitor and Laptop Stand (non-adjustable) that I also purchased. Yes, I highly recommend this docking station to those who wish to integrate "devices" with their laptop in just a few seconds.

It is so nice to be able to simply lift the laptop off the docking station and have it fully charged. The other plus is that I don't have to constantly plug in and unplug my other power cord. It can just stay in my backpack for emergencies. I was afraid at first that there would be a large chance of breaking the charger portion that slides out to hook into the computer but the product has such exceptional design that it won't allow hook ups to slide out unless the laptop is fully seated on the docking station. Great design and such a small footprint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made docking Station I received this docking station 4 days ago, and was just able to set it up in my office today. I'm using this with my 2018 Lenovo X1 Carbon that I purchased in August of 2018. When I purchased the X1 this docking station was not available at that time, so I purchased a standalone Lenovo docking station that connected to the X1 via USB Type C. That docking station worked just fine, however it took up more space on my desktop than I wanted. With this new docking station the X1 mounts over a large portion of it, and it saves space on my desk. I'm able to bundle up all of the cables, and it just looks much better. It comes with a keyed lock on the left side that allows you to lock the laptop to the docking station, and then you can put a cable lock on both. This would be handy if I worked in an office with other co-workers, however I work out of my home, so I probably won't use it. The station has a number of different format USB ports on the back, and two display port interfaces. My monitor is HDMI, so I did purchase a $7.00 adapter cable to take Display port to HMDI, and that works just fine with no issue. I'm planning to add a second external monitor in the near future, and will make sure that it has a display port interface. It also came with a very nice power adapter with more than enough watts to power my X1 and any other items that I might charge by plugging into the USB Type C. Overall I'm very happy with this docking station, and since its a Lenovo product you know that it will last for a very long time.

Love the size of this station, but wish it had more ports. We also added a separate disc drive and almost every port is taken.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy and to the point I have been using this docking station with my X1 carbon for about a week now and loving every bit of it. It is built very well and I can see using this for years to come. It has 1 USB C port, 3 USB 3.0, 2 USB 2.0, 2 Display ports, 1 3.5 mm stereo/mic, 1 gigabit ethernet port and 1 lock slot with 2 keys. I have not used the lock slot yet but have used these in the past and assume it to be the same. All the ports work as expected and the desktop setup looks much cleaner with this. I do however wish that this docking station had ports for HDMI and probably VGA too. I have a few monitors with VGA connectors lying around that work great. If you have external monitors with Display port or don't mind investing a little more in compatible converter type cables then it works like a charm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice dock, but has some bugs I love the way the docking station is configured. However, I connected two monitors to it and they blank out (go black) on a regular basis. The support site says that it is a known problem, but their solution didn't work. Disappointing.....

Sometimes they don’t work at all, sometimes one works, most of the time it flickers off and on. And since it doesn’t include an hdmi output I have to add a cord to the side of the laptop to get a reliable display.

So i finally decided to open the box and set it up. it took less than 10 minutes and now I have a really good set up at home that makes it easy for me to work from home and not have to commute to work

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Painless for those on the go! Lots of output and input options. 135W power supply. Connection to the dock made via side ports vs bottom as in previous models. You do need to push the latch with a harder nudge than might expect. One bonus of the dock, is securing the base when opening the lid without lifting the unit. Planning on purchase a separate monitor soon with elevated stand for the laptop. Lenovo has some pretty decent options. This is docked to a 6th Gen Carbon X1.

When I first plugged everything in and installed it, it took a bit for my laptop to recognize the exterior monitors, but after some help with Lenovo Customer Support, everything works great. This has made my work so much easier!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes! Great Docking Solution for X1 Carbon 6th Gen Finally, a horizontal docking station for the X1 Carbon 6th Gen. I'm in IT field and this dock is seamless. We use various type of docks in my field of work and this is by far the easiest to use. I'm used to the T460 horizontal docks and they got this one just right. I have 2 of these docks one for home and one for work. A little bit tricky the first few times you try to dock your X1 6th Gen, but you get used to it rather quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its pretty good I am using this with my new Carbon X1. Only 4 stars because it doesn't include the HDMI port in the replicator. There is still plenty of room to plug in your HDMI cable so it works and keeps it out of the way nice, just an additional item to unplug.

Really appreciate that lenovo understands the "click in" style dock format for business use is 100x better/ more reliable/ ease of use . I wish there was a fan built in ( or a new dock that has the added as option) to help with heat dissipation , these new processor's run hot

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Will not output to two monitors I'm using a Lenovo T480s computer in this dock and it will not output via two Displayport to two Lenovo Thinkvision monitors. Our IT team said they have received a large number of complaints about this dock. I will return the dock if I can find a different option for my computer.

Unfortunatly most laptop manufacturers have embraced the USB3 cord dock to a Universal docking station where Lenovo has stuck with the traditional dock concept but utilizes the USB3 ports (yes both of the ports on the laptop to dock) to transfer all port functions of the laptop to the docking station. It's a pretty slick docking solution and only once has the multi screen HDMI connections lost their connectivity requiring a reboot. I would suggest this docking solution over a Universal USB3 cable dock due to the simplicity of the dock procedure- no cables to mess with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst Lenovo dock ever.. I have been using Lenovo/IBM laptops and their hardware docking stations for the past 15 years. I was excited when my first T580 and its associated docking station arrived. I took a peak at the new hardware and then passed it off to my assistant to install and configure for the user who it was going to. An hour later, she calls to tell me that I must have bought the wrong dock, because it will not connect. I checked the dock and I could not get it to connect either. At first I thought I maybe had a dock that was DOA. I grabbed another dock and we had the same problem. The USB-C connection was stuck in the locked position. After much frustration I discovered that if you do not have the laptop and docking station lined up perfectly, the USB-C connection will not engage. Unfortunately there is no way to tell if you have everything lined up. Unless you want your users to be very frustrated, avoid this dock. How it made it out of the design stage is beyond me.
