Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointing product, gone backward in terms of usabilityI have been through a number of generations of Lenovo docking stations, this is probably my 4th now, and I have to say this model is a giant step backwards. The device does not work to turn your laptop on or off, and does not provide any power to keep the laptop charged. Normally at work I like to just plug the laptop in the docking station but not have to keep the laptop (and docking station) on my rather limited desk top, leave the laptop closed, and use with external keyboard, monitors, and other devices such as HD camera. Frankly I thought that was what a docking station was for! But this model requires me to have separate power cord to the laptop and keep my laptop open in order to power on and off. So now have to run 3 monitors (one of which is the laptop which I don't use when docked) and keep the laptop closer to me using precious space on my desk. For the price I would expect much more and I am hugely disappointed with this product. I hope Lenovo learns from this mistake. I would have been just as well off ordering an inexpensive USB hub as I could already drive 2 monitors just using the connections on my compact Carbon X laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As advertisedGreat way to connect a laptop to a robust workstation. Wish it had the ability to charge as well, but it doesn't claim to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not charge laptopWhy would you create a docking station that doesn't charge the laptop? I've been a Thinkpad user for years; i can't believe they would produce something like this. I have cords everywhere on my desk. I cannot describe how annoying this is...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't forget the cablesSo this is a pretty decent dock - small, sleek and easy to use. Just remember, it only uses a Display port connection, so make sure whatever monitor you are connecting, you purchase that as well. Otherwise, this is a pretty easy to setup and easy to use

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't ChargeThis was ordered for me and I would have never purchased it if I had read the description. I have never experienced a docking station that doesn't charge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Functional, but DOES NOT CHARGEI now see that not charging is an old issue - WHAT IS SURPRISING IS THAT THE LENOVO SALES CHAT GUY DID NOT KNOW IT EITHER.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Connectivity Options + ChargingThe only reason it is not 5 stars is that you have to connect the dock to the left side of the Thinkpad in order to for the Thinkpad to charge. Ergonomically, this does not allow me to use 2 displays due to the way the layout of my desk. A longer cable would solve this and I'd rate it 5 stars. I'm not sure if the following will help others with the charging problem. I purchased mine directly from Lenovo and the Part # is 40A80045US (When I do a search on CDW, it brings me to this product page). I have NO PROBLEM CHARGING with the power adapter be plugged in. The thunderbolt cable has to be connected to the SPECIFIC thunderbolt port on both the dock and the ThinkPad otherwise it WILL NOT CHARGE. I don't know if this helps your situation, but here is how mine is connected. The Thunderbolt power cable that comes with the docking station that connects the docking station to the thinkpad has to be plugged into the port right next to the power adapter port. There is a picture a laptop and a thunderbolt. From the TP X1 Carbon (mine is 5th Gen), the thunderbolt cable has to be plugged into the last thunderbolt port on the left side closest to the display. It has a picture of a plug on the left side of the port and the thunderbolt on the right side. but there is only 1 port on the dock and 1 on the TP that will enable charging.Hope this helps.
