This is the first time I've been truly disappointed with a Lenovo purchase. I incorrectly assumed this would output to at least 2 monitors, but no - my bad for not verifying closely hence the extra star. Annoyed that there were no other Lenovo branded docks offered when we purchased the laptops like the half dozen setups we purchased in the past 2 years... Lessons Learned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would not recommend Not a fan and thinking about returning it. It has trouble working with displays (HDMI and VGA). It will not recognize one of my displays (using VGA). After I did a Microsoft update it recognized HDMI. But it fades out to white when I do a download from Dropbox and I have to go and click the mouse on the screen multiple places and it starts to show the screen again. Jury is still out on Ethernet port speed. I downloaded a file that took 3 times as long as when I used my old device that plugged into USB A port.

I was very clear that i needed 2 usb c ports, plus the usb c, to drive 2 external monitors and i was also very clear that i did not want a transformer. The product has 2 usb c, one of which is for power. I’m returning it.

Usually having a docking station is a large object and takes up a lot of space or if it connects to the bottom of your laptop, you can't move your laptop to adjust. This just sits in the back while everything else connects to it and you can hide it. You can also have a longer USB-C cable if you want to place your laptop in a specific spot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The cheap generic ones work a lot better I have bought a couple of these thinking that they would be better and more reliable than the cheap off-brand ones on 3rd party websites, but I have had 2 of these Lenovo usb-c mini docks fail me now. Both of them randomly drop internet connection. The off-brand ones I bought on amazon for $35 do not have this problem. To attempt to make a warranty claim with Lenovo on a docking station, I waited on hold for 3 hours before giving up. Don't waste your time on this product.

It did not mention any issues with the Power Delivery / Charging, as it did with some other models in the compatibility table. When it arrived and I tested it, it was unable to charge the battery on the X1 Extreme Gen 3. Returning it due to this.

Once i plug into the dock, I have to open the laptop to turn it on. An extra step given that I am docking it to use my bluetooth keyboard and connected monitor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from full feature next gen USB-C dock IMO, there are two main angles for desiring this dock: 1. simple powered docking at home/work/mobile- your external display monitor, wireless mouse, wired network, backup storage are ready to go with one USB-C connection to your laptop. I normally leave this at home except when taking longer road trips. 2. in general adding back the 'missing' ports for your laptop - I bought the Lenovo x12 detachable and my initial hesitation was only having 2 USB-C ports. But that is not an issue at all as long as you have a dock like this. I also have a USB-C to USB 3 cable for on the go use. P.S. the Lenovo x12 is awesome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Convenient but small pet peeves Convenient device that gets the job done. Wouldn’t mind it being a little bigger to have more ports for USB. Other issue is when a cell charger is plugged into the USB, it connects to the phone ok, but it actually doesn’t charge.

It took months to get this part and every couple of weeks I received notices from Lenovo telling me that they were preparing it for shipping, but never giving me any extimated shipping date. I also started receiving email marketing pieces from Lenovo inviting me to hurry and buy other hardware from them knowing that they too would likely take months to receive.

To power up the laptop, you must open the laptop and push the power button on the laptop and leave the laptop lid open. Otherwise, it performs as expected.

These docs took over 6 weeks to arrive (despite using shoprunner 2 day shipping they were also sent USPS which added insult to injury. The docs are essentially useless because the HDMI port does not work. So its just a very expensive power cord. Checked online and the HDMI functionality issue is prevalent - hdmi cable works plugged into computer but not into dock - so our external monitors and docks have to be plugged in. I would not recommend at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DUAL MONITOR DOES NOT WORK I am using the dock to connect to my Ideapad Flex 5 15ITL05 and I tried connecting an external monitor to the dock through HDMI and my monitor says "No HDMI signal from your device." I tried using a VGA instead of HDMI and it still doesn't work. Prior to purchasing this dock, I've used other docks for my laptop and I encountered the same product. I called Lenovo customer service and they said this dock should be compatible, but it still isn't!!!

In my application, the mini dock works perfectly for reducing the cord clutter on the desktop and for easily making the tranisition when working from home and working from the office. I was surprised to see a VGA port, but thankfully the HDMI port is there to meet my need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It saves me from messing with 8 connections. I used to have to connect the charging cable, Ethernet, HDMI, and two USB hubs every time I returned to my office. I bought this Mini Dock and now I just connect the charging cable (I have a Legion laptop with a huge power source, so the supplied power is not enough to charge it) and one USB-C cable. I even connected one of the USB hubs (with an external microphone, printer, mouse and USB lamp) and added some speakers to the Mini Dock. So, one USB-C connection saves me connecting 8 cables and wires. I was concerned it might get hot, but so far it hasn't. I have had it for one month now, and it is connected all the time I am at the computer. I have used to play games, too, and it works with Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk 2099. I thought I might have to connect the HDMI cable directly to the computer, but so far I have not had to do it.

I am disappointed that you do not offer a reasonably-priced dock/hub with several more USB-C ports since USB-C connected devices are becoming much more common and laptops like my Lenovo Slim 7 ProX come with only a single available USB-C port.

They shipped the docking station within 2 days although the computer took close to 3 weeks since it was being built. I finally had a chance to use the docking station once I received the computer, but it didn't support two external monitors, only one which for work was not sufficient for me. I called Lenovo that day to see about returning it so I could get a docking station that met my needs. I had surpassed the 30 day return policy so I was stuck with it and there was nothing they would do. I just suggest to others if buying a built out computer, do not buy accessories at the same time or you may run up against the return policy without any time to test the items.

This has worked pretty well so far, but when I unplug the power from the dock my computer loses connection to my USB drive even though the dock is still connected to the laptop. Not a great feature if you wanted a laptop for portability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great with Lenovo X12 Detachable (Gen 1) This device works perfectly with my Lenovo X12 detachable; however, the ethernet port doesn't work with my Surface Pro X (I suspect the driver doesn't work on the ARM-based version of Windows 10). If you have an device running Windows on an Intel or Ryzen processor, you will be very happy with this USB-C mini dock.

I bought this a week ago and it seems it can't really do 60hz at 4k I have: * this mini dock * E14 gen 2 * HDMI 2.1 cable * Linux system Whenever I set the setting to 60hz it "works" but it resets the monitor the moment something moves in the screen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cannot Use VGA and HDMI Port Simultaneously. I got this to hook up 2 monitors to my laptop at the suggestion of a Lenovo sales rep. It has both a VGA and an HDMI port, so that would work, in theory. However, the HDMI and VGA ports are so close together that you cannot plug an HDMI and a VGA cable simultaneously. I've had two Lenovo docking products; both have been terrible.

Connections work- but the connector to the laptop isn’t tight. It’s loose and frequently becomes disconnected- even just for a second, but super annoying. Wish it was just a more stable connection.

I can also use it with the Chromebook duet to plug the keyboard, mouse, and use it in a big monitor. It comes with a 65W charger. In my opinion, the only downside is that it must be plugged for use all ports, and this keeps charging my laptop all the time. I don't know if it will damage the battery with time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact and useful I bought in conjunction with the Lenova Yoga laptop. I have it setup for when I am at home working to easily attach a secondary monitor and external HD. Worked exactly as I had hoped and the bonus it the laptop charges thru the same connection so there is only one cord to attach to achieve all the functions. Seems pricey, but worth it in my opinion. If you were to use it on the go, the unit itself is very slim and compact, but it also uses a power cord with a transformer block in the middle.

As is the case with many Lenovo products, the shipped item was not update to the latest firmware, with even with that, I still can't get the video to work. I'm waiting for a replacement device. Other than that if you simply want a small device to consolidate all ports, it may be useful.

But, I would say my new Lenovo ThinkPad is tops. The firm, tactile feel of the keyboard is excellent. The slim, lightweight design makes it super portable. With the necessity of doing many online meetings, I intentionally chose a unit capable of using virtual backgrounds and this unit does it very well. This is simply a very well built, no-nonsense, workhorse, that I am 100% satisfied with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything you need in a USB-C Dock The Lenovo USB-C Mini dock is everything I needed for my T14s AMD with Ryzen 7 4750u. Ethernet, extra ports, and power. Importantly: although the power output is only 45W, my T14s only draws ~39W at max load. It's so nice having a single port I need to connect to in order to get all the power and wired internet I need. Ridiculously convenient. It does get a bit warm sometimes, which concerns me a bit about battery longevity, however I do keep my T14s on a cooling pad, which allows for some of the heat from the battery to be dissipated. It is also a good idea to use a custom battery threshold that is comfortable for you (mine is set to cap charging at 85% of full to increase your battery's overall lifespan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great dock for putting one everywhere you need. Does everything it says on the tin, but also has a 3.5mm audio-out jack which wasn't well advertised. Very pleased - and with this and the later Windows 10 versions the PC remembers all the screen and i/o permutations so once it is set up it returns to that setting whenever the PC is plugged into the same dock. So, keep one at home and one at the office (in better times...) and everything just works. Using one for both places will require you to always reconfigure the monitor layouts if your home/office differ. This dock has a hard-wired USB-C on a short cable. I would have liked a longer built-in cable (twice around?), and because this dock is so light (good if you really do carry it around) I would have liked 'stickier' feet or more mass. This gets dragged around the desk by the weight of the cables that attach.

The added bonus of the product is that is small and slim and fits on a desk where available space is limited. The only caveat that is the one can not use both the HDMI port and the SVGA simultaneously as the ports are too close together. Other then that, the product is great and I now keep the charger that came with my T490 in my bag incase I need to work out of the office.

What I didn't realize before buying is that it outputs power at a lower wattage than the native charger for my laptop (X390, listed as compatible), which makes me nervous for my computer's battery health. It half-works without plugging in to power, for my USB-A second generation, VGA, and 3.5mm headphone outs. Without power, it does not work for my USB-A third generation and I have not tested the USB-C or HDMI out connections.

It drains the battery of my Yoga C940 laptop when it stays connected to the laptop, even when the laptop is shut down. Since it always drains the battery of the laptop, it has to be ejected from the laptop and plugged off from the USB-C port of the laptop. In the long run, I am afraid the USB-C port of the laptop will be damaged due to wear and tear since the USB-C Mini dock has to be plugged in and out whenever I use the laptop When the laptop is turned on and Lenovo USB-C Mini Dock is connected to the laptop, it keeps charging the battery of the laptop. This could shorten the battery life time of the laptop. Bought CableCreation extension USB-A to female USB-C with the intention of avoiding plugging the USB-C Mini Dock in and out from the laptop directly, unfortunately the HDMI connection to the monitor worked only once. Am thinking of buying an extension of USB-C to female USB-C with the intention of avoiding plugging in and out the USB-C Mini Dock from the laptop directly, but I am not sure whether the HDMI connection to the monitor will work.

I noticed an issue if I use the dock power passthrough some times it works, some times the Yoga C940 screen turns off. I decide to use it without the power cable and plug to the free USB-C.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A useful accessory at a great price I bought this mini dock to go with the new-to-me ThinkPad T480, and so far it seems to do the job: I have my Ethernet cable and an external USB-connected hard disk plugged into the mini dock instead of directly into the ThinkPad, so I have just one direct connection to the laptop. I did make sure that my wireless trackball also works when the receiver is plugged into the mini dock, but that is not how I will normally use it. At the special pricing of $90, the mini dock and the included power supply (which sells for more than $50 on its own this is a great deal, and now I can keep one power supply on my desk and the other in my laptop bag ready for when I go traveling -- but the mini dock is small enough to take with me if I really needed to.

In hindsight, I probably would have preferred to choose the length and direction of the cable connection. This limits where the dock and the computer can go on the desk relative to the monitor. In the product feature page, Lenovo described it is compatible with HP and Dell laptop but that is not True!. I spent hours and hours to figure it out, and finally spoke with Tech support after waiting and transferred to different departments. I was finally informed it is not compatible with Dell. And worst customer support system ever!

I use it with my Yoga 14 940, which has all USB C ports on the left. The built in cord from doc to computer is SHORT, and it always feels backward when I use it. The other issue is slow charging of external devices through the USB ports. So don't expect a quick charge for your phone from the computer. Otherwise it works well.

With only 2 USB ports, it really doesn't meet my needs, however, not wanting to spend more (especially after buying a new X1 Carbon), I wanted to keep costs for a dock down. I like a minimalist desk, I hate cords flopping all over the place, I'm not a fan of lugging my power cord around, and it's a pain having to plug and unplug things to get work done.... Well, I don't have to worry about any of that anymore. Super easy to set up... Plug it in... Plug other stuff into it.... You are now all set up. Connections are consistent, audio and visuals great, integrated power, perfect. Worth it. Period.

To my surprise the Gb port get the exact speeds that my ISP provides so I would say this is a great device. My wi-fi cuts the speed almost in have but with this mini dock I get that speed all back so I am delighted. Also the other USB-c ports and HDMI connections work as advertised .

I paid more money to buy the name brand to work with my latest Lenovo X1 Yoga 5th Gen, after two weeks, it stops charging and keeps recycling itself. So I have to pull it and reboot the laptop. I know it is not the OS issue, because I tested it on my Mac Air and it happened after two week. I don't want to buy the $250 docking station, so I am stuck with this now.

There is no problem in resolution switch between display ports and monitors. This is very mini compact dock easy to carry.

Glad I had not bought extra charger or Ethernet dongle before ordering. Would have been superfluous. Wish connecting cable to laptop was longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lenovo USB-C Mini Dock Device works as expected. It is limited as to connectivity (#ports, but I am using it side-by-side with a non-powered (and much cheaper) standard USB-C expander. Both adapters work together and give me 3840x2160 resolution on the laptop, with the laptop screen at 1920x1080. It all works together, and I do not need to daisy chain the monitors. I use this Mini Dock also as the power supply, it is all good. 4 stars, not 5, because of two issues: The monitor (both are the same) connected to the Mini Dock flickers at times, when app switching, etc. The other monitor, connected to the non-powered port expander, does not do this. The second issue is when the laptop is off. The Mini Dock screen keeps powering up, even though no (HDMI) signal is present. Then it goes back to sleep. The monitor connected to the non-powered adapter does not do this. I tried updating the firmware, but it errored out with an error, haven't looked into it further. The adapter is a tad larger than the standard power supply, so it is not as travel friendly, but it is very compact otherwise.

Are experiencing an issue on initial boot, the computer doesn't want to connect to internet. Unplugging from the dock for a minute, breaks the logjam, and then the USB-C is plugged back in and everything works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from USB-C mini Dock works but blocked the laptop HDMI The USB-C mini Dock itself works great. Initially did not work for the internet, but once rebooted laptop, everything works, so thought it was great. Then when adding another monitor to the Laptop HDMI port directly, the laptop does not recognized it any more. Understand the mini dock only allows either the HDMI or VGA, but it should not "stop" the HDMI port on the laptop itself. So believe it is a design fault.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lenovo USB-C Mini Dock I like this item quite a bit. It's small, light weight and easy to carry, if need. Has all the connections I need for decent-size set up. I only use one large screen and the screen of my Carbon X, so it's enough connections. The only thing I wish for is a bit longer connection cable. The USB-C port on the laptop is on the left side, but I need my dock on the right side, and the cable is too short for that. Maybe a detachable cable would have been a better option. Otherwise - very nice. Got it on sale, so the price was good too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what you need but can only connect one screen The dock arrived today and set up was extremely easy. Just plugged everything in and it worked. Pros are I have connected speakers, mouse and keyboard and an external screen and now I can come home from work and just plug the laptop into a charging port and everything works instantly. My only disappointment is that there is a HDMI and VGA port but you can only plug one in at a time because there is not enough room to plug in two. It does say this in the specifications so it's my fault for not noticing You can use the laptop screen as a second screen so it's not all bad but given that there are two ports it would have been nice to be able to plug in two screens.

My only issue is that it only transmits the HDMI signal when it's plugged into my Legion 7i's thunderbolt port. When plugged into regular USB-C, the HDMI port doesn't work. It would be better to call it a Thunderbolt Mini Dock, or at least indicate that it needs thunderbolt for the HDMI.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Defective product Lenovo refused to replace Had trouble streaming on Zoom (screen freeze, audio disruption, "unstable" Internet connection) that I had not had before using this product, after I bought a new Lenovo ThinkBook. My secretary's non-Lenovo dock solved the problem and she doesn't need Zoom for her work. I contacted Lenovo for a replacement and they refused because I was more than 30 days after the invoice date (I contacted them on day 33), not the date I actually received the dock, and had tried various configurations to solve the problem without giving up on the meetings I needed to attend by zoom. I was very disappointed by Lenovo's customer service policy and response; they should have been willing to swap out the (I assume) defective product, even after more than 30 days post-receipt. Unless of course it's a design problem, in which case they should just refund my money and I'll go get one that works right.

I bought it for the Yoga Laptop I bought which died a month after receipt (battery stopped charging). The laptop issue was reported 2/13 and as of 3/1, nothing has been done to fix this situation despite multiple requests.

Why pay for OEM solution when it does not perform better than generic options?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mini dock for work laptop Great little dock that I bought for my Thinkpad T480s, has a good number of input ports perfect for my needs (I've connected a keyboard and mouse through 2xUSB, hdmi for external monitor). It does everything that I need it to, the only complaint I have is that the dock to laptop connector cable is very short. Based on the description I was expecting the cable to be pulled out further from inside the dock, but it is literally wrapped on the front side of the dock so it is the length of the dock itself (approximately ~15cm, half a foot). It isn't an issue as I bought an extension cable for it.

I specifically asked if this mini-dock was FULLY compatible with my Lenovo laptop - he had me wait while he checked and came back and indicated that it was fully compatible, which I took to mean that the mini dock would perform all available functions with my laptop. It does not power the laptop through the USB-C port as indicated, now requiring two cords for power. All other functions work well and seems to be a solid port replicator and docking station.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for everyday use and on the go! I love the simplicity and convenience of this USB mini dock. With my old ThinkPad I had the full desktop docking station and it took up a lot more desk real estate and I could not take it on the go with me to meetings. With this mini dock I can easily connect to VGA, HDMI, USB-C, and so on with out any issues. When I am finished with my meeting I can unhook and go with the ability to stow the cable into the dock so I don't have to worry about the cord getting damaged. I recommend this dock to anyone that is on the go or tight on space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice idea, but needs improvements The dock is well built and connects easily, however, there appear to be issues with the internal designs. The monitor doesn't turn off when turning off the computer unless you unplug the dock. It keeps trying to connect. The USB connections appear to have some problems. For example my numpad doesn't work until I click a key once and then it connects. It has caused my computer to freeze a few times or my usb devices to stop working a few times. I'm unclear why. But I have to restart the computer to fix the issue. I have a brand new Thinkbook, so you would think they would work seamlessly with each other.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good dock with one exception. This is my second purchase of this mini- doc. Great product with only one issue. The base of the USB-C cord rubs against the edge of the unit and eventually the insulation wears off and the exposed wire becomes frayed and fails.
