The new Defender case has it’s own clear shield built in for protecting the glass. The shell is made out of sturdy black plastic and virtually indestructible!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic protection I bought this because my old case let my iPad shatter completely. Not a piece bigger than 1/2”. I feel very comfortable with this case. The system for reading in a horizontal position is good but not great. The only complaint I had was their instructions for equipping it for the first time are very bad. Basically they direct you to a utube video that does not allow you to actually see what they are doing.

A little tricky to install but everything works fine even though the volume buttons don’t line up exactly right. Pleasantly surprised and extremely happy!!

With this case I don’t have to worry all the time and I can trust the durability of Otterbox Defender and just use my pad and phone too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent for protection The Otterbox defender case for the new mini iPad provides excellent protection. Fitting takes time as it is a tight fit but once on it is just right. All portals easily reached. The inclusive screensaver is good. The cover adds some weight but not excessively and this is to be expected with a military style cover projection .

Same goes for my iPhone - my Partner & I both have Otterbox Defender cases - he even dropped his phone from his truck on to the road, & the phone was not damaged!

If you are using it for your flying your drone you will not be able to see the screen very well and on a sunny day the screen acts like a mirror. Indoors it is fine.

My iPad and iPhone can get a bit of rough treatment now and then but are always well protected. My last few iPhones have gone straight from their packaging into an otterbox defender, after several years when I upgraded my iPhones still looked as good as they did the day I bought them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Otterbox I bought this a month ago, had one on my old iPad mini. You cannot buy better protection. I buy Otterbox for my iPhones as well. I had purchased a different type of case for my last iPhone. What a mistake. It totally cracked in the back and the front glass on my phone got chipped. What a waste of money. I purchased another Otterbox for my phone, which I should have done in the first place. Will definitely be purchasing Otterbox for anything else I buy in the future.

I would like to see a version for hot weather locations though, with options available for lighter colors and venting in the back. I use the iPad for airplane navigation and it's difficult to keep it cool when mounted in the sun. If you're working outdoors in the sun you might consider drilling some holes in the back. Also, one tip: The membrane over the home button isn't meant to be removed! I made the mistake of trying.

We are older persons and the cover not only makes our device more secure from accidental drops, it also allows for better grip and more comfortable handling of the iPad. Otter boxes have kept things in top shape. Otter boxes have a screen cover that most other cases do not have. Adding extra protection from dropping or from things being dropped on it.

I've got a galaxy active for this reason - so when I picked up an iPad to fly with, I was so terrified of smashing the screen I hardly used it. I knew I wanted an OtterBox when I got the iPad, however this case hadn't come out yet. I signed up to be emailed when it was, however this required me to subscribe to the promotional email list as well which seemed unnecessary. It's easy to assemble, comes with a lens cloth, and has great protection. The screen protector is full seal, and the touch ID works too! I had a previous OtterBox for an iPhone which had a hole for the fingerprint sensor and dust would always get stuck under the edge, so this is a great improvement. The silicone skin was a little difficult to pull on and off the edges, however a flathead screwdriver would probably help. All in all, this is most likely the best case for the iPad mini 5, and I'm very happy with it!

Fits like a custom Italian suit, the look and feel of quality is obviously seen.. For my application it’s perfect,however time will be the judge if materials,and protection It provides...I transport it daily in my bike box...PS: My Son is a Manager for Apple and Here all about the damaged resturns

The edges are grippy, which makes it easier to hold with one hand. I don’t like “naked” iPads. Just too slippery. This is the ultimate protection. The pencil holder is also a nice touch. Every thing is one small package to take every where.

For a person without fingernails, I found the case a bit difficult to open to allow insertion of my iPad, but once done and reassembled, the whole assembly is really quite impressive. Well made, functional and obviously durable, this case should outlast the iPad itself!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Robust If your looking for ruggedness then this for you. Comes with additional hard cover/reading stand which tends to make it overall bulky but ideal for travelling. Around home I tend not to use it. Screen cover works well and for me makes gestures easier and less prone to accidental selection. The only criticism would be the fitting instructions in particular how to get it apart. I could get by the first bit bit according to their online video but a YouTube search finally solved it by suggesting using credit card to prise apart. Also not designed to quickly remove. Overall is exactly what I wanted

These cases are awesome and provide great protection should you drop your device. My husband dropped an IPAD once without protection on a business trip and had to find an authorized glass repair place during his trip. Not fun and expensive. He will not be without a defender series case again.

I was handling my new iPad mini 5 like a newborn just waiting on the defender to come out for it, now I can drag it around everywhere with no worries. The defender has always been the go to choice for my iPads, and the commuter or symmetry for phones depending on the feel and fit. Cant remember when I got my first otterbox but it has to have been over a decade ago, they have always been the best and have developed top notch cases improving with each one. I reccomend otterboxes for any device you have (I would not recommend the defender series for a device you will be constantly pulling in and out of your pocket, choose symmetry or commuter I have seen alot of phones and alot of cases and even people who "love" their pretty 10 dollar case that's complete trash, spend the extra money and get one from the best. The iPad mini 5 defender case has transformed my iPad into something I handle like it is just waiting to break into something I feel like I could drag through a war with taking documentary photos.

Nice looking case too and adjustable views are v handy. Should easily be able to take a fall and be fine, a good purchase
