Also the outer rubber encasement became loose and wasn't securing properly around the hard case. I contacted Otterbox and they replaced the rubber cover with no problem, So when I purchased the Samsung Galaxy S-9, there was no question about what protective case I would purchase, I would not activate my new phone until my Otterbox protective cover arrived,

I emailed otta box and they replied the same day saying a new one would be sent out, 3 days later it arrived, so no complaints from me! We've only had the new phones 3 weeks but the defender case seems good quality and strong so far. They are not the cheapest case but the quality and service are worth it in my opinion.

Not the otter box's fault, but I actually think I prefer the old plastic screen. I have had an otter box for years and couldn't imagine going without one, very well made.

They are the only cases that hold up for what I like to do. Unfortunately this time I didn't read very well and got one without a screen saver but that's on me. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Second Best Purchase If this Defender,for a S9, works as good as the first one , for a S7, it is MUCH more of a value then 100 times the purchase price . I have a hay farm and the phone is my life line , it goes where I go . The S9 got run over by a large tractor , a smaller tractor , and a dozer . It also got plowed under and had to dig for it . The screen protector got replaced twice , the Otter Box was gouged in the plastic part , BUT , it protected the phone 100%, numerous times . The Defender Series does just that , and I thank you for such a great product .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Typical Otterbox quality with one flaw I have only had this S9 defender case for 1 month, so far so good. Something has changed from my previous S4 defender case. The durometer (rubber softness) of the exterior case is much harder than previous defender. This at times makes it difficult to release tab for power cord jack. Perhaps overtime as this gets cycled the tab will become more friendly. Overall I would expect same durability of my last case,3 years.

My S3 lived it whole life in an Defender series case ..to this day that phone still looks almost brand new .(great case. When I bought the S9 I ordered another Defender thinking it would be the same design but that's not the case for this model ..not happy about the open face style case but about the only option if you want a holster to store your phone. To sum it up the case does fit the phone well ..just not happy with exposed glass and I don't want alpha glass either! Phone fitment into holster is a wrestling match to get it in correctly and puts a lot of pressure on the phone to get in so that does not get used now... sorry Otterbox you dropped the ball on the case for this great phone.

I don't give it 5 stars as I wish it would have come with a screen protector. It does add a little bulk to the phone but it make it easier to hold on to. I like the fact that the holster clip also serves as a stand.

Although the phones had been dropped down stairs, fell off car, dropped in airports and driveways, stepped on .... Defender took all the abuse and kept phone safe ..... from me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Case seems very protective so far This is much better than the defender case I had for my galaxy S4, specifically it doesn't have a flimsy plastic screen protector to get all dirty immediately. I always tore that out of my old one and put a stick on glass screen protector, but that screwed up the clips holding the case together. All that has been solved with the s9 since Otterbox makes a glass screen protector to go with this case and that's exacly what I wanted. The only issue I have with it is that together the screen protector and case are, like, $100 but if I am a bit careful I expect them to last since I don't have to take them off unless I add a microsd card. The downside is you can't use things like the gearvr in this case, but I have hacked on that so it should work fine now without taking the case off.

Put the case on was somewhat tricky, but this may have been avoided by reading the directions. The case is a lot slimmer than previous models while still providing plenty of protection. There are ridges on each side that help provide grip and a solid feel in the hand for the phone. The two port covers at the bottom of the case are very stiff and slightly difficult to open, but will likely soften up over time. Very well constructed case overall.

If this case performs anywhere near as well as the first one did I'll be thrilled. Now - If they could add a few more colors (I've got the Big Sur Blue and it's kind of a more feminine than I'd like. How about colors like red, iridescent, gold or piano black. Also, It would be nice if the price was a little lower it would be perfect. Buy One! Dave

It was a great purchase because i really like the quality of the materials, the texture etc. But looking back at it it was quite a bit pricy, even though i had a discount.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dependable as ever. Having used many different cases on various phones over the years I have had Otter box Defender cases on my last 4 phones. The latest is on a Samsung S9 and is the first not to have a built in screen protector. The jury is still out on this feature but other than that it is the only case that has gives me the confidence to handle an expensive phone in a normal manner and especially in the workshop and when out and about on my motorbike in all weather's and needing to use my phone to log each section of a journey with a charity I volunteer for. Another factor of the Otter box Defender is that it can still charge the phone wirelessly with an Ikea charger (£10 if you can fashion up a base to put it in or £15 for a beech version. Not a rapid charger but it sits on the bench in the workshop in a scrap piece if wood.

I love that they have made it slimmer which is easier for me to handle. With my clumsy hands and 2 little kids I know my phone will be safe when its dropped. The only draw back to this case is how stiff the cover for the charging port is. I had issues with my last phone, the cover rested on the cable and caused the cable to eventually not connect properly in the phone. This resulted in me having to buy new charging cables. Another solution was for me to remove the rubber casing when charging my phone which caused it to stretch out and in the end not fit well. I am hoping this will not happen but seems to already be affecting how the cable sits in the phone when being charged. (I set my phone flat on the table to charge so there is no unnecessary bending or angles to the cable other than the pressure from the case

Would highly recommend. Just don't buy the alpha glass to go with it. Dropped phone once and alpha glass screen protector just fell off and broke. Not happy especially as not cheap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Second Outter Purchase This is my second Outtebox purchased. My first one was for my Galaxy S7 and it protected my phone when I accidentally dropped it. I actually dropped my new phone and it protected the screen. Would definitely recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from S9 not handable any more Might protect the phone very good. But it just adds too much width. It feels like 0,6-0,8 cm on each side. I don't have small hands but when it is attached I can't use the phone with one hand any more. Therefore the price for protection is too big for me. I am looking for other solutions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Always buy Otterbox! This is my 3rd Otterbox and I won't buy any others. I had my first four 6 years and then a small piece of plastic broke where the charger connected. No big deal. I was at a running expo and was talking to the Otterbox crew who saw my case. They told me to go online and it would be replaced for free. I didn't think that was right after all those years, but I tried anyway. Sure enough, I had a new case sent to me in a week for free! When I upgraded my phone recently, I made sure to purchase my new Otterbox that day. I love this product! It is so durable and holds up to bring dropped.
