Know your gear

Improves heat transfer between a CPU/chipset and heatsink with easy-to-use thermal pads. This 5 pack of Thermal Pads offers a suitable alternative to using heatsink paste/grease. The thermal pads remain solid at room temperature, and soften at heatsink operating temperatures - eliminating the mess of heat grease, while maximizing heat conduction to create a cooler operating environment for your hard working CPU.

StarTech.com Heatsink Thermal Pads thermal pad is rated 1.00 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like others, pads would not stick The pad material would not separate from the backing, just like the other reviews. The only thing I did not try was to briefly fire up the processor without a heat sink to melt the material onto the processor to get it to separate. Save your money. These pads are no good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awful - waste of money Bought these to repair a PS3, I don't know if they'd been sitting too long or what, but the adhesive won't stick to the heatsink stronger than the wax paper, so you end up hopelessly mangling the pad while trying to install it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from null The pad is not adhesive. The pad itself sticks to the backing material better than ceramic or metal and it falls apart when trying to forcefully apply it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No directions - didn't work Terrible product. Waste of money and time. No directions on how to use and when researching how to peel and apply, it didn't cleanly peel leaving the backing stuck to the pad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performs as bubble gum. I wasted my money on these pads. The instructions are very vague and confusing. I couldn't tell if I was supposed to keep the blue plastic or not. The wax paper peels onto the material leaving a residue that blocks the heat it is meant to conduct. If you try to remove the wax paper fibers, the material becomes like bubble gum and gets destroyed and uneven. I have no idea on how this product made it to market.
