Know your gear

The SNMPWEBCARD turns a SmartPro or SmartOnline UPS with an expansion slot into a device you can manage on your network. By inserting the SNMPWEBCARD into the slot and using the SNMP network management platform, PowerAlert Console Launcher, SSH or Telnet, you can monitor and control the UPS and data in your server room, data center or network closet.

Keep an eye on site electrical data, UPS self-test logs and logged power events, such as blackouts, brownouts and over-voltages. You can even remotely reboot locked network equipment without disrupting power to other devices when using the SNMPWEBCARD with controllable outlets or remotely switchable outlets available on select Tripp Lite UPS systems. You can also use the SNMPWEBCARD to copy the configuration of a networked UPS and transfer it to another device.

Two-tier access allows two people to log in and monitor or control the UPS, while more than two can simultaneously view activity. If an electrical or UPS problem occurs on-site, you'll be notified immediately via email, SMS or SNMP trap. Real-time clock support maintains current day and date even after a UPS shutdown. NTP (Network Time Protocol) support enables automatic updates to the real-time clock from an NTP server.

Multiple protocols are supported, including IPv4, IPv6, SMTP, SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, SNMPv3, Telnet, SSH, FTP, DHCP, BOOTP and SCP. DHCP/Manual configuration support enables network settings to be assigned automatically or manually.

For HTTP and HTTPS support, we recommend the WEBCARDLX that has a Java-free HTML5 web browser interface that is fully compatible with modern desktop and mobile browsers.

Tripp Lite UPS SNMP / Web Management Accessory Card for SmartPro / SmartOnl is rated2.83 out of5 by6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from java web interface is terriblethese snmp web cards used to work great until they switched the web interface to java a few years ago. they do not work with the standard java default settings. we have 35 of these using nms (which has its own issues too) and each one needs an exception added to the java security just to get to logon screen using outdated ie browsers (or a browser that still allows java). then some just hang looking for power alert engine. trying to access from a new client or from multiple clients is time consuming and unacceptable. you can use telnet but they advertise with a nice looking web features that are hard to get. tripplite must know about these issues because they now offer html5 based web cards at a higher cost. what they should do is scrap their failed java attempt and offer only html5 cards for same lower price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Web Management CardThis card works very well for me. It gives me the information that I need. I was able to easily integrate it with Spiceworks, our IT monitoring software. I also use the Envirosense card and use it to double check our facilities based temperature and humidity monitoring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! This device does what it's meant to do. All the important information is now remotely available. The user interface is a Java applet so it's platform agnostic as long as your browser supports the Java plugin. The user interface is a little sluggish, but it's not a real nuisance since administration is not something that is required frequently. I must mention, I messed up the first firmware upgrade which required some assistance from support. It was a fault of mine, not the device. I submitted a support case via the support web application and the issue was resolved in a day. I was very pleased with the support teams ability to quickly resolve my issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worthwhile accessory for Tripp Lite UPS systemsweb card is used to monitor and send email alerts for out of threshold conditions. The ability to add the envirosense and tie it to the same monitoring/alert system is very handy. The card has a lot of options and setup features and is not the easiest tool of it's kind to set up but once set up it works every bit as well as expected from a Tripp Lite product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SMNPWEBCARD features needing looked atWe use the PDUMH30HVNET (208v 30A PDU) which comes with the removable SNMPWEBCARD pre-installed. The basic Telnet portion works great with and without the menu. The GUI portion needs working on due to the Java issue. I do like that you can allow up to 4 users to be logged in at the same time. So the three big fixes you guys need to make for me on the SNMPWEBCARD would be: 1) Allow Java to work without any modifications (you can turn off update and that will also work for now but you might run into security issues later) 2) Groups does not work when a user's permissions is set to Read Only and Realm is also being used. 3) It would be nice to see individual current readings for each Load SNMPWEBCARD vs. WEBCARDLX SNMPWEBCARD is Java Based, and has serial connections so I can connect up to a remote serial connection box like a Comtrol. So if too many users forget to logout I can log in to the com port are re boot the card only. WEBCARDLX is HTTP5 based and has an ugly gui look and you won't get messed up when a Java update is released. The Console port is mini-USB so you will need to have a PC close by to bypass the other users and reboot the card.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall unreliable, poor design and Java needs to die.I have used the Tripp-Lite SNMP Web Card devices to mannage our UPS for almost 8 years and have them installed in 20 devices. The latest firmware revision requires reboot every 6-9 months to keep it operational. Sometimes the web server dies, but you can still reach it from ssh/telnet. The only way to reboot the device and restore connectivity is to physically remove it from the UPS housing. First they need to make the device more reliable and is they are unable to do that, they need to put a reset button on it. Getting to the device at the bottom of the server cabinet is not easy and the dinky screws they use on the faceplate are easily lost. The requirement to have JAVA installed in the browser is unfortunate. With the inherent security risk of having JAVA installed, the steps browser manufacturers are taking to prevent it from running and Oracle's decision to EOL the plugin, Tripp-Lite needs to move to HTML 5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Java issues take this from 5 stars to 1The fact that this card cannot support the current version of java's security restrictions makes it a major point of frustration for my customers. I cannot continue to sell Tripplite UPS in to my customers who are security conscious which is removing your product from being marketable. You are losing to competition over this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do not buy this web interIace until it is redesigned. This external control interface should be split into separate legacy and Ethernet products so that the cost can be reduced. The Ethernet interface should be embedded in the standard product and included in the price. At ~$200 this interfaced is well outside the cost range that would be acceptable for most applications using UPS's at <2KW. In my case it added 33% to the total cost of the UPS. The Java implementation of this control interface is cumbersome, finicky, and does not play well in the Windows environment. It requires clearing browser cache, adding the IP address to the Compatibility list (every time cache is cleared), and denying Java updates when it tries to execute. In addition, you must make sure your browser zoom is set to 100% or you will get only a partial view of the page. As of this writing it requires an older version of Java to run. No estimated time for a fix is available. It does not work at all with Chrome at this moment. The Java applet implementation should be thrown out and replaced with a more modern HTML5-based implementation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor implementationThis unit requires you to have an old version of java and connot be accessed from a mobile device. I dont feel like installing outdated, insecure versions of java on every machine that needs to access the unit.
