Know your gear

The Cisco Unified IP Phone 7945G demonstrates the latest advances in VoIP telephony, including wideband audio support, backlit color display, and an integrated Gigabit Ethernet port. It addresses the needs of transaction-type workers with significant phone traffic and the needs of those working with bandwidth-intensive applications on co-located PCs. This IP phone includes a large, backlit, easy-to-read color display for easy access to communication information, timesaving applications, and features such as date and time, calling party name, calling party number, digits dialed, and presence information. It also accommodates Extensible Markup Language (XML) applications that take advantage of the display. The phone provides direct access to two telephone lines (or combination of lines, speed dials, and direct access to telephony features), four interactive soft keys that guide you through call features and functions, and an intuitive four-way (plus Select key) navigation cluster. A hands-free speakerphone and handset designed for high-fidelity wideband audio are standard, as is a built-in headset connection.

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7945G - VoIP phone is rated4.13 out of5 by8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from nullI got this phone for my end users in Oct. 2009. A strong solid phone able to survive a drop from a desk. The screen is both color and a touch screen so users have an option on how to interface. (Most users do not know the Screen is a touch screen). Feature set are also excellent, with cfwd, extension mobility, a web back end, a fair number of annoying ring tones for users to chose from. The down sides is that there is only two buttons on the side of the phone, one is reserved for the line extentsion and with Call Manager you can the other one a direct dial or another line (however you only get one extra button) another downside is that the color/touch screen pulls more amps then the traditional green screen Cisco phones. That became an issue for us and we had to buy power patch panels when the POEs couldn't handle the load of the phones. All in All a very good device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nullWe have more than 100 of these phones in use. The best part of the Cisco IP phones is the ability to pass PoE through the phone instead of having to have two network drops per desk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nullSound, display, feel. All very good. Used it on both Cisco and Asterisk. Love the XML interface. Just a bit expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nullGreat phones, but to me the server software that runs them could be more streamlined. Performing 8 different tweaks to get a name changed properly and phone working is a bit much. Otherwise great devices!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nullgood phones. Some strange features and navigation, but it is easy to setup and functions well like most Cisco gear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nullHave had a lot of these in service (SIP Firmware) and have had quite a few just die... they just start rebooting infinitely, even if you go to a factory reset I don't have time to finish punching in 123456789*0# before it just reboots again... definitely the worst of the 79** ciscos in my opinion

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nullGreat phone and excellent build quality. It has everything the 7942 has but adds the fancy colour touch screen. If you don't need colour, save yourself some bucks.
