When an irritant is introduced into the air, it reacts quickly by increasing fan speed and with it significantly louder noise which is distracting. But I guess that means it's doing what it's supposed to.

It cleans the air well and is quiet, unlike the jet engine one I previously had. It even signals when it's detecting pollutants. The first night I cooked dinner with it on, it immediately signaled there was a change in the air of our home--two rooms away from the kitchen. That's serious sensitivity. My husband has allergies and got up the next morning without a stuffy nose. Amazing!

My doctor recommended a good air purifier. I chose this one because of reviews and it was recommended for my office size- about 300 ft squared. Don't know if it's coincidence or the air purifier, but I haven't had a migraine since. Keeping my fingers crossed!
