Microsoft Surface Dock - docking station - 2 x Mini DP is rated 2.50 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from One month with six users These device were in use when I joined. I was provided a Surface and the dock with a nice dual monitor solution. This is pretty much the exact same for half a dozen or so people in the office. Seems I'm the only one without an issue. Mine works flawlessly and were it the only one I had, it's probably get a 5 start rating from me. Reality is, most folks in the office have a daily issue with the device losing connection to the monitors. Power cycle on the device seems to be the trick to restore connection though one user reports having to power the monitors as well. This is unacceptable. Bottom line as a light user, think single screen, not in a work environment where a power cycle on the dock is not a bother, go for it. In an enterprise environment, I really wanna say pass completely, but maybe a buy at your own risk. Do not do a large deployment. Do not give it to your boss! Good luck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from null I miss the days of when you bought a docking station it was exactly that, ie not something you wanted to move very often. This is a port replicator plain and simple. My CIO looked at it and instantly asked, "Why do I need that?" I couldn't give him a valid reason.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from null So, it's not so much a dock as it is just a port replicator. It is nicely weighted and will not slide off your desk. because it is a brick it can be difficult to get situated on your desk nicely. Functionally it is excellent. USB, network and audio work as expected without difficulty. However the mini displayport adapters can be fickle. You need to make sure you are using an active adapter or they will not work. The magnetic connector is nice as well, i have had issues in the past disconnecting the dock and walking away (display being messed up and networks getting borked) with the unit still on, but that is true for pretty much all docking stations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is Nice When it Works These Surface Docks are fantastic when they work, but they are very finicky and prone to connection issues. I bought a brand new one for one of my users. No issues the first 3 months. After that, several issues where the dock would not connect to his monitor. Power cycling the dock sometimes helped. Did a firmware update as well. The problem occurs less frequently now, but it still happens. I have seen this happen with our users as well. The connection issues really need to be addressed by Microsoft.
