I was very disappointed until I found this Charge Rockstar. I love that I can still listen to music with my plug in headphones. I also really like that I can charge my phone at the same time. Some group rides I attend can last 4-5 hours or more depending on the elevation and difficulty of the terrain. The downside is that after a ride, my phone is drained of power and requires charging. Not anymore! This Belkin Rockstar was just what the doctor ordered! Now I'm able to charge my phone and listen to music on my ride and head home with a fully charged phone! The audio quality is outstanding and I'm been pleasantly surprised with how quickly it charges my phone. This device now goes with me everywhere!

This allows me not only to use my headphones with my iphone but also charge it at the same time. Perfect! The materials used look pretty sturdy as well so I don't think that the cord will start to flake out once I use it a bit.

It does add bulk, but i feel like this product is slim enough and you won’t feel like it’s there as much. Build quality is great. Would recommend this.

It is such an easy fix having an adapter like this without always having to buy a new phone. He can easily use it now and the sound seems pretty clear and he has no complaints.

He loves the headphones that he's had for awhile now and didn't want to go to wireless ones. They're extremely good quality and he loves them. Therefore absolutely necessary to have the Belkin audio+charge adapter so he can listen to music, watching videos, etc. Absolutely a MUST HAVE! Of course unless you want to have to get wireless earbuds, no thanks! The adapter is so compact, quite small and can easily fit into your pocket or backpack, purse. I like that the cord is on the thicker side and seems to be durable and well made. Prior to ordering this I had looked at some others but many seemed cheaply made and probably wouldn't have held up over time.

Imagine my disappointment when my battery ran low while I was listening to a favorite playlist and I needed to unplug my buds to re-juice the phone! I’m happy to report it performed exactly as I’d hoped when I tested it. Good clear sound through the truck’s sound system while charging at what seems to be a normal rate. This is the one that works!

In some ways, I hate that I needed a product like this, but with basically all phones doing away with a headphone jack and me actually liking my headphones that use a headphone jack, I need a product like this. It works exactly as advertised, and I love it, but it does seem pretty large in size and gets in the way. I'd love to have something that doesn't have such a long, floppy setup, but if the alternative is no headphones, I'll take it!

But now with this adaptor, all I need is one USB-C cable that fits my headphones and I dont lose the USBc input. It's so convenient and makes charging up much easier. Highly recommended product!

We live in the middle of nowhere so our choices of channels on the radio are seriously limited. Now I can finally listen to what I want. I also have a pair of wired headphones that I can finally charge while listening to them. Would absolutely recommend!

It lets you use wired headphones while charging your phone, and it works flawlessly and seamlessly, basically plug and play. (Also, since iPhones don't have a standard headphone port this will allow you to use headphones that don't attach using a lightning port.) I can imagine this would be especially useful while traveling (a use case I'll try soon) or driving. It feels sturdy and that it will last a while. I'll definitely be using this for my next plane trip.

He loves this because it allows him to listen to his tunes while doing chores or running etc. Great little gadget. The only downside is that it does not function as an audio splitter. You can use it as a 3.5mm audio adapter and charge your phone at the same time but you can't plug 2 sets of headphones into it and listen at the same time. That is not the purpose of this product.

I don't have any airpods yet, so I have to use the wired headphones for now. Of course the headphones I have needed an adapter so this worked out better than great. Yes it worked perfect to connect my headphones but it can also charge your phone while still using the headphones. You get a two in one. It's also small enough to carry in my purse. The audio sound is great no issues everything sounds clear. Definitely recommend,

One suggestion would be to have this, but with another port to accommodate the new iPhone headphones (that have the same type as the charging cable). He wasn’t able to charge his phone but was able to play music. Using a adapter in the lighter to has USB ports, he plugs the Belkin International - 3.5 mm Audio + Charge RockStarinto tha USB port on the adapter. Then plugs an AUX wire from his car AUX port to the Belkin International - 3.5 mm Audio + Charge RockStar. Then plugs the Belkin International - 3.5 mm Audio + Charge RockStar into his IPhone. His music plays in his car, he charges his phone at the same time, and still can use his phone for calls which go to his car speakers. He was so frustrated not being able to charge his phone while driving & play music at the same time. This is great and works perfectly. It’s very small an compact so it doesn’t take up any space on the car console.

It really frees up your worry about using up your battery listening to your favorite things. Just plug it in as you would normally do to charge your phone then plug in your charger and your headphones. It’s a simple as that. The audio quality is amazing. And your phone can charge while you enjoy your favorite audio centric things. The cord is thicker than most making it very durable. It is small and flexible. Making it extremely easy to travel with this doesn’t take up much space at all. I could literally slip this in my wallet. I love it for when I want to watch YouTube or TikTok‘s out in public along with listening to music. I have a discontinued pair of headphones that I love and have been using the same style for over 15 years. They wrap around your head, I am not an ear buds kind of gal. Thing is, they don’t fit these modern phones. Now I can go back to using my favorite headphones! How amazing is that? Definitely worth grabbing to use with your electronic products.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from It serves its purpose I've had an older iPhone for years and it worked with older earbuds, the kind that have a round plug. It is the same kind of earbuds that you can use with laptops, tablets, mp3 players etc. When I switched to a newer iPhone, I wasn't able to use my earbuds anymore, as these new phones require earbuds with a lightning connector. So I purchased a new pair of earbuds. If I had known about this adapter beforehand, I wouldn't have needed a second pair of earbuds. This adapter allows you to use earbuds that have a round plug. It also allows you to use your earbuds and charge your phone at the same time. Very convenient, it is small and lightweight and easy to carry around.

Eventually, I wanted to update my phone to a newer version, which meant losing the headphone jack. That means I had to choose between charging or music, but this little piece of technology has fixed that! Now I can charge my phone and play music through my aux at the same time. It works flawlessly!

Super easy to connect. Just take the lighting cord and put it in your phone port. Easy to charge and put wired headphones together. Great product, little white adapter box is a bit big, but that's not much a problem. Fits easy in my bag for when I need to go somewhere. Overall very easy product to use, even a child can use it! Only problem is my phone does not keep charge very well especially when my music is playing for some reason. So with this I can have my headphones plugged in and a portable charger to keep my phone going for however long I need and not once do I have to choose between music or charging!!

It adds something that the phone no longer comes with a 3.5 mm head phone jack. It works perfectly for using on an airplane for watching videos on long flights with out the fear of Bluetooth headphone loosing battery life. The cable has two outlets one for the lighting cable for quick charging and the other is the head phone jack plug. It’s very compact and easy to travel with.

He loves listening to music on his iphone, but we don't all want to hear it along with him! This device allows him to plug in his favorite headphones (since the newer iphones don't come with a headphone jack anymore) and listen to his music. You can charge your phone and listen to music without having to go out and buy wireless earphones/earbuds. I listen to music from phone while doing yardwork but really didn't want to spend extra $ on wireless earbuds especially since I already have some very nice, corded earphones. This is handy just for that alone, but the added option of being able to charge your phone and still have access to a 3.5 mm audio jack is icing on the cake. My son uses this when he is watching shows on his older tablet and charging at the same time. Well done, Belkin.

This is nice for us without newer cars with Bluetooth. Also if you don’t have wireless headphones you can plug in since apple doesn’t have the connector anymore.

It seems to be well manufactured and the ends are reinforced to prevent tearing. The audio quality is good, I mean it’s not perfect but certainly beats listening to terrestrial radio. It’s a bit pricey but as they say, you get what you pay for. Definitely recommend this adapter!

The function of the accessory is pretty decent but does not get a five. The reason being is sometimes I have to reconnect my phone and the aux cable and start / restart songs if the wire gets bumped too hard. The audio quality has no loss or degradation. And when it was working I would occasionally have to replug it in a few times because audio would play on speakerphone. I chalked it up to it being the odd lemon so I bought another one. Second one worked fine at first but now the cord is starting to fray and yellow with the volume changing at different angles; it's been about a year with only home/at desk use. For its price point, you're better off just looking for a cheaper alternative and replacing that if it breaks.

Then with normal use, it started to fray significantly and slowly stopped playing at certain angles. Had to RMA it after ~1 year. Cable strength needs to be better; bought Belkin because I believed it to be of higher quality and longer-lasting than cheap amazon equivalents, but this was disappointing.

I wanted to use my headphones with a 3.5mm audio jack and Belkin's Rockstar 3.5mm Audio + Charger lasted longer than other alternatives I tried. It's been a about 1 week and 11 months before I needed to replace it. The inside wires became exposed, but after all the wear and tear it has held up great. It still works, just decided to replace it before the adapter gave out on me. I appreciate the quality product. The only 2 issues I had with this was the length of the cord from the adapter, it causes the dongle to hang down, adding weight and stress to the cord. Sometimes the "accessory not compatible" message came up on my phone. Just had to reconnect the adapter to iPhone to reestablish connection. Never went without it working, just hiccuped some times.

I am sick of spending money on a product that is not made to last. So frustrating. Apple should allow customers to decide what plug ins they want on their phones instead of forcing you to by a bunch of adapters for everything.

I plug it in with my headphones and no audio come out via the headphones. it defaults to the phoen. I tried different ear. buds. same thing. Chareges great!

Even though I did that, it keeps having static but it also keeps connecting to Siri and its very frustrating trying to listen to music in the car.

The charging of my iPhone 8 Plus was intermittent, and the audio jack didn't work at all, just got static out of my car speakers, which work fine otherwise. Seems this is a very common complaint about this product.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits my need! I use my iPhone 7 in my RAV4 and my Harley. I use the phone for music and GPS, so I want to keep a full charge, just in case. This is my second Belkin adapter. The first one I got almost 6 - 8 months and the second less than 3 months. Both of them are loss of audio issues. At $35 a pop, probably won't get another one, just have to split time listening or charging.

However, after only 3 days of working properly, my phone began to say that the accessory was not supported. The audio proponent of the adapter still worked despite this, but it doesn’t charge. If I wanted to just listen to music I would have gotten a simple Apple dongle. It’s sad to see this doesn’t work, as Belkin is often a reliable name.

I got a replacement - and THIS TIME, the CHARGING PORT shorted out. Yes, I tried SEVERAL Apple certified chargers and NONE of them work. At this point I am extremely frustrated because I am an attorney and on the phone with my clients ALL DAY EVERY SINGLE DAY, trying to grow my practice. At this point it is clear that the product works for about a month and then shorts out.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great solution to a stupid problem I understand (kind of) why Apple got rid of the 3.5mm headphone jack, but I don't understand why they did it before they introduced wireless charging - because it created the problem of not being able to charge your phone and listen on headphones unless you shelled out for bluetooth 'phones (I guess I kind of answered my own question there!). This product solves that problem. That's what good products should do: solve problems elegantly.

So I love my iPhone but like many people found Apple's decision to no longer provide an headphone jack disheartening (don't they know how much I paid for my noise-suppression headphones?) Don't get me wrong, the battery life is great BUT long flights and end of day gym visits still leave me with little battery life and no way to charge and listen simultaneously- until Belkin helped out. Love this little adapter. No, I don't need it everyday but when you get a red battery and are only halfway through your playlist you will be one of the first to drop Belkin a thank you note, Thanks for remembering that while wireless headphones are great, those of us that have our favorite wired versions can rejoice being able to charge and listen at the same time.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performs as expected PROS Nothing extraordinary about it but the Belkin dongle is definitely one of the best products out there compared to other dongles. I haven’t had it for too long (about two weeks) but it seems to be better quality than any of the other third party dongles I’ve had. I’ve got faith that it won’t short out on me after a few months like the others since it is Apple certified. Personally I think paying the extra 10-20 bucks is worth it, durability has a price. CONS It’s bulkier and longer than I’d like and the wire is so thick that it doesn’t want to bend much which leads to it sticking out of your pockets. Those are my only complaints so far there hasn’t been any features on my phone it hasn’t worked with.

Now, when plugged into my phone, slightly moving the dongle will make the phone think I am disconnecting the headphones entirely. I would expect the product to be much sturdier, possibly even have a braided cable for a price point of $35-$40 that they're charging.

I've tried plugging it into several different power sources, checked my phone contacts and the contacts of the device. All are clean with no issues. I have several other Belkin products, never had an issues, this is the first. Appears that this is a common problem.

What is great about the RockStar is that I gained back what was taken away...a seamless integration. I can now get in my car, plug my phone in to the charger, and stream music without using Bluetooth. Another advantage is that I do not have to plug in an audio jack, because it is already connected to the RockStar. This is the first example where I do not mind the headphone jack being removed. Being able to charge and use traditional jacks is a must for me. Never do I lose power to the connection to the car or when I use it to stream when mowing the lawn. The form factor is streamlined and not bulky. The plugs are solid and do not slip or come unplugged. All-in-all, I am very satisfied.

It wouldn’t connect with my phone anymore. It would stop my music or it would fast forward through songs. I wouldn’t have bought it if I knew I would be wasting 30$ on a product that lasted a month or so. Wouldn’t buy again.

The build quality of the adapter is on par with Apple’s and feels durable. The functionality is plug and play. As soon as you connect the adapter to your headphones and charger it starts playing and charging simultaneously. The audio quality is not degraded by the adapter. I tested it side by side with the same audio file on an Apple device with a headphone jack and it’s just as good. It would be great if Apple did not remove the 3.5mm audio port but I’m grateful that Belkin released this as it solves the problem in a simple and elegant manner.

It enables me to keep my phone charged while I have maps open and the AUX allows me to play my music through my car stereo. It also enables me to use my headset while charging. This is a MUST if you want to listen to your music while charging, whether through your headset or through your car stereo.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Charge and Listen Received my 3.5mm Audio + Charge RockStar (full disclosure) through the Belkin's Fans First program. My job requires a lot of travel and use of my iPhone 7 and occasionally I have had to stop using my sound cancelling ear buds so I could charge and listen. I tried a charging adapter that supposedly would let you listen, but the iPhone popped up a message that it couldn't support this equipment, so I sent it back. (always read the reviews before ordering!!) Anyway, I finally got a chance to work and use the RockStar. The short lead from the connector to the RockStar is extra heavy, with strain relief at the connection points. I have no concerns that it will accrue wear and tear over time, these is a major stress point of the adaptor. The rest of the unit is well designed and appears to be built of materials that can take mobile office use. I use high-end noise cancelling earphones and the controls on the cord, (volume, pause, hang up, skip track, sound cancel) work just like they do without the RockStar inline.

Previous adapters like this that I had purchased stopped charging shortly after buying or wouldn't be able to use ghe mike function. I bought this and have had zero issues so far. Charged my phone and can use the headphones and mic as well. Worth the price you pay as now I don't need to worry about my battery dying while using the headphones.

The charge rockstar is made well. The charge wire is thick and substantial. It’s as if apple made it themselves. The charge cords are a perfect snug fit. The lightning end also fits like a glove. No messages that it’s not compatible with Apple products. Would definitely recommend this product.

I shared this item with several of my iPhone 7 friends and received the same reaction from all. It works great and gives the user a great way to use their expensive pre-iPhone 7 headphones with their current device while allowing charging at the same time. One noted that she would use it to recharge and listen on long plane flights as she travels using the Rockstar and a portable charging device. Several also noted that they might be interested in a product that was smaller that does the same job, but with no cable extension. I loved it and used it primarily to listen to music at bedtime while falling asleep and knowing that my phone would be charging overnight with our usinga different cord.

It's been convenient to use with my iPad sometimes, too, since I already have the charger and speaker wire connected via the RockStar.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Headphone splitter we wanted from the Beginning Belkin should have made this Headphone splitter adapter from the beginning. It does everything you want. It allows you to use your old 3.5mm headphones, charge your phone while listening to music/talking on phone, allows headphone controls to work, and also allows data passage through for syncing and file transfer. The only thing this doesn't allow is 2 headphones usage (one 3.5mm and one lightning), but Belkin already said that doesn't work on their page and that would be a rarely used option anyways (sharing on a bus or plane?). I'll probably buy another. I have the Belkin Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar and now that is wasted now (didn't allow data passage).

I tried two different Apple chargers. It worked fine in the car plugged into the cigarette lighter adapter. No hum with other non-powered headphones.

They work for a few weeks, then they stop charging the phone -- or, more entertainingly, start-charging-and-then-stop-charging-and-then-start-charging over and over again several times a second, so my iPhone looks like it's having a seizure. The fact that this is Apple's recommended accessory is joke. But I have no choice -- there's no other way to charge your phone and use earbuds at the same time -- so I keep buying new ones and adding to the graveyard of dead RockStars. On to my fifth... I'll avoid both Belkin and Apple products in the future, but for now there's no other option.

This product rocks, when I moved to iPhone 7, my biggest challenge was that I could not use headphones while my phone was charging, if you are a heavy phone user, you do need to charge couple times a day. I was really missing my iphone 6's audio jack. This is a perfect fit for my needs, it plugs into the lightning port and i can simultaneously charge and use the headphones.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better sound than the actual 3.5 mm audio port! I just received this adapter as a test before getting an iphone 8. I am using it with an iPhone 6 plus. The audio sound is better than that iPhone audio port! The sound has more depth, is crisper, and is more vibrant. My headset is a HyperX Cloud gaming headset, and people indicate that the sound of my voice is better with this adapter than using the stock port as well. My gf said it sounded as clear as a landline instead of like a cell phone. The inline controls also work on the headset even though it is not certified made for iPhone.

It did everything you'd expect--allow you to charge and use your earbuds--but I'm not doing that every single day. So I wanted the Rockstar, but I thought I'd only use it in those rather rare cases, but this is where things changed for me. Turns out I'd rather travel with it then my iPhone headphone adapter. When on an airplane it works just great and doesn't take up much room in my earbud case, and normally I don't consider charging my phone while on an airplane, though I own a small USB battery. So all together, I really like the adapter. Pros: - Well Made - Does it's job - Small - Great for travel Cons: - Nothing

Today, that’s all she wrote. No more audio signal will pass through. Thumbs down for such an expensive product. A $3 non MFi adaptor would have given me the same experience.

I lose audio sometimes too and have to unplug and plug back in. Been getting worse and just stops charging all together in the last few days. The adapter hasn’t been bent or anything, seems to just be poorly made with how many others have had this issue

I've checked the quality of the charging cord I am using and it works just fine without the adaptor. This is really too bad because I had high hopes to use this for longer.

This product has one of the worst qualities and lifespans I’ve ever seen on a product, I’m on my third one currently and each ones only lasted at most 2 days. I’m getting pretty tired of this, but there is no other choice. I really hope that the quality improves, or you fix the issue with it not charging past a day of use, maybe 3 hours of actual charging.

For the price they really don't last as long as I think they should. I keep mine in my car and only use it to play music from my phone when it's mounted on the dash, so I see no reason why these adapters would stop functioning so frequently.

The best I've had with this product is 6 months. Please work on your quality of your products to make them last longer than 6 months.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does what it's supposed to do...kind of... I bought this to use in my car so that I can charge my iPhone 8 AND use the AUX for music. It does both, but only mediocre. The biggest complaint I have is that, when playing music and charging, there's a constant buzzing/feedback/static-y noise. This is really disappointing, since this seems to be the only option available on the market to both play 3.5mm audio-out and charge simultaneously.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adapter failed to charge after 3 months I bought this adapter 3 months ago. It worked well then in the past two weeks it started heating up. Even my iPhone 11pro felt unusually hot at the lightning port. And two days ago the adapter failed to charge or by pass the sound through the earbuds connector. This was my second Belkin adapter. The first adapter lasted 7 months. Agreed with the other reviewer, the manufacturing quality control is poor.

I thought okay maybe it was a bad unit so I bought another one. The second one also lasted 1 year until it started to lose audio or stop charging if the wire was slightly moved. Avoid this product unless you want to buy a new one each year.

The Belkin adapter allows the head phones to be plugged into the power port rather than using the special adapter for the headphone port.

You are willing to drop $$$ to buy a pair of apple wireless headset (which I would loose soon after and you might to) 2. You are willing to purchase and new car with qi wireless charger or purchase multiple wireless charges one for the car, one for the house, ..... buy this save your self some aggravation.

It was good for a month, then the charging would flicker; it was hard to tell if it was charging or not. Basically, I couldn't move around, else the phone wouldn't charge if I was listening to my iphone. Moving while listening and charging at the same time is not an option. This similar situation happened to the first one I bought too.

It is now October and I can't listen to anything without it cutting out or my entire floor at work hearing it. I might as well had ordered an off brand from Amazon for a cheaper price. I'm back to either charging or listening, not both. :(

But in practice the Adapter is just way too big for any comfortable cable positioning and has a lifetime of a female mosquito. I'd say most people listen to music on the go when their phone is in their pockets. This adapter is so massive that it peeks out of your pocket and hangs down. Not only is this incredibly annoying and looks stupid, it also wears down the adapter a bunch. After just 6 Weeks of using this adapter every day it's already broken to the point that I have to find that perfect sweet spot to get audio or charge through. So if you’re looking to spend about 250 bucks per year just so they can listen to music while charging. This is the product for you!
