I previously had an Hp that NEVER worked properly and I spent two four hour time blocks trying to get it connected to my computer, to no avail. Which reminds me, I need to go on their site to review my horrible experience

The first issue came when I tried to print 2-sided which resulted in a tumble print vs head to head. The second issue came when using the ADF for the first time. First issue was resolved by downloading a different print driver - which was new for me — my question being why was this necessary and why wasn’t I instructed to do that during initial setup? Still working on the second issue. While the Brother Support site helped resolve the first issue, it was not for the second.

TWO HOURS on the phone making you try different things on the printer to FINALLY tell you ok we will send you a REFURB! Now the problem is it's been several days and no tracking no confirmation for ticket or trouble. Would never buy another brother printer again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very sharp printing. Crumples envelopes I have one Brother printer that does a perfect job with envelopes. My two higher cost machines crumple them. I print a fair amount of postage so this is a disappointment.

Other than that one issue, it an absolute workhorse ready to print anyway we want, scan and fax. It makes the office run much smoother!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Paper curls pages curl no matter the brand or type of paper and the print will quit, it seems, via page count not from being out of toner. pages look fine but won't print until you replace cartridge. Big waste of resources. good quality prints otherwise.

Once it is set to the quiet mode the sound level is OK. One aggravation I have not found a solution to is getting checks to print from the MP feeder. I have tried a dozen different suggestions and QBP checks try to print horizontally. I would have returned this if I could have for this reason.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Connectivity issues The process of getting 4 office computers set up to connect with this printer is way more complicated then it should be. Multiple tech support calls in to Staples Tech Support (where we bought the printer from and bought the tech support warranty as well) ended up advising us the DOWNGRADE our internet service from 5G to 2.4G as this printer is not used to such high end internet speed. I'm still confused on that ...... meanwhile connectivity issues still exist Our relation ship status with this printer? ..... It's complicated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BLACK LINE-BEWARE Black line appeared after 4 months in use only when using print from feed. Followed all directions to clean. Webiste has videos and the compartment near the white guard on the inside cover does not open per video. It is not manufactured as videos indicate. The AIO has to be physically brought to an authorized repair and they claim it is not covered under the general warranty. Good luck finding that warranty on the website. So now I have to physically carry it out of the office? Hire a strong man? Had an IT person set up initial installation for 7-person office. Too difficult to set up double-sided printing, options are minimal. Copying from glass cuts off edges. Not a great solution, but a cheap one.

The speed of printing is not the fastest medium sized print jobs of < 50 pages take quite a long time to complete the printing. The document scanner does not handle duplex document automatically. For a printer of this size the paper tray should hold a full ream of paper which it does not, which means for a busy office a lot of paper fills are needed.

Some difficulty in setting parameters for paper size, and other specific needs when printing, particularly with color photos. Still trying to learn how to set things up and use it.

I figured my old brother did it why wouldn't a new more expensive model have that feature. I have to use the scanner bed and flip the page over. It's not a crazy big deal but it just adds time.

It is used primarily for home projects and for an annual event that requires copies of various documents for up to 500 participants, usually 6 - 10 documents per attendee. I also use the fax, although I have not had a reason to use it at this time. I typically fax document 3-10 times a year. Many of my printed documents are printed two sided. It was my misunderstanding that this printer would print duplex copies without the need to manually flip the page in the printer because of a dual scanner built into the print screen. I have since found this is not the case with this printer when trying to print 2 sided originals to 2 sided copies. I can't do this without manually removing and turning the original document on the document screen. Fortunately, I can print two sided from documents sent from the computer. The document quality is excellent and toner life appears to be good, although I have not made enough copies to really accurately express toner life expectancy. Access to the toner cartridges and the drum unit appears easy. I have not looked for the waste unit yet but expect it should be readily accessible as well. Before processing I talked with a repair facility and they gave the Brother printers high marks. Overall I am currently happy with my purchase of this printer and expect to have it for many year to come.

(Though, as with most laser printers it's not suitable for high quality photo printing.) The setup process was fast and easy, the menu tree is clear and logical and it sync’s flawlessly with my WiFi network and AirPrint devices. Print speed, even in duplex mode, is plenty fast for my use. During the print cycle it produces a sort of plastic-clanking sound that makes me a little worried about long product life. However, my last Brother printer lasted seven years and over 40K prints, so I’m hopeful this one will last a long time as well. My only real complaint is that the replacement toner cartridges are way, way too expensive.

When printing larger number of copies it will print 10 sheets-pause-“think”-print 10 more sheets- repeat. It makes for a slow process.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Malfunction and then Replacement Printer I received a replacement printer because the first one had a malfunction. The replacement has a constant black line running down the pages. Cleaned rollers etc., but it is still there.
