Rated 5 out of 5 by from WORST CANON PRINTER I'VE EVER OWNED I've owned Canon printers for about 15-20 years. They're usually reliable. They usually print beautifully. This printer does not of these things. It commonly leaves streaks and blotches on the page. Text does not print crisp like my past printers. Basically this machine is a hot mess. Once the cartridges go I'm buying a new printer. I've had this printer for 2 years which is 2 years too long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ok, but software is limited and hinders unit Used for my office. A bit tall for my desk but no fault of the printer. Printing is ok, not great. Colors are a little washed out, but text is great. I needed the scan to PC function and while it does this, the printer scan button creates multiple PDF files, and I have to open the software to combine all of the documents into one PDF. Frustrating. The software itself is limited and the GUI is from the 80s. Toner is $$$ so be prepared. Overall I am pleased. I would not buy this for my personal use, I have a nice, though pricer X-Brand for home use which is far better, but to push out work documents and scanning.....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast, easy to use, great touchscreen I have used this printer for about 2 weeks and so far is has been great. I did receive this product for free in exchange for an honest review. The setup was easier than other large printers I've had in the past. The box unfolded making it easy to take out and the set up was very clear. Overall it took about 15-20 minutes from unboxing to printing my first page. Usually I am worried about the speed for double side printing, but it prints both sides very fast. The quality is very clear and both black/white and color printer comes out sharp. I also find that the options I usually need to change are in the first menu option on my computer screen (e.g. using the long or short side for double-side printing and I haven't had to use the advanced options even though I print regularly. The touchscreen on the printer is nice and big and responds well to touch. The options are easy to find and I have found it easy for copying and scanning as well as printing. Another benefit is the phone customer service--at one point there was an issue with my computer communicating with the printer, and I was able to speak to someone right away who took me through troubleshooting and we were able to fix it quite easily. The only cons I can think of: there was an extra piece of plastic that came in the box that I couldn't figure out what it was. Turns out it's to cover the paper tray for using legal size pages. But it was more of a bit of confusion than a problem. Also, I saw a review that noted the scanning feature does not automatically scan both sides, but for my needs that's not an issue. Maybe for someone who is going to be scanning lots of double-sided pages that might be something to consider. For a small to mid-size office, this is an efficient and easy-to-use printer that is intuitive to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WORST PRINTER EVER !!!!!!!! Its all over the internet how bad this printer is to connect to wifi !!!!! Its a piece of junk for a lot of money . Do not buy this series or even close or you will be pulling your hair out . 3 hours to get it online with awesome internet service . Then it doesn't find the modem/router right beside it but everything in entire house does . Same story with everyone . A piece of garbage and I will never buy anything with the name canon on it again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SMTP server set up is cumbersome- not for novices The printer is a kind of heavy and I'm not positive if it's a good fit for your home, but it's probably ok to have it as home office printer. The printer is 3-in-1 device and is supposed to work as printer, copier and scanner. The packaging is great, and supporting manual can be easily found. The printer works with maximal A4 format, which, given its weight a kind of poor value and definitely disqualify the printer to be chosen for company office because oftentimes A3 is needed for office purposes. Out of 3 key functions- wifi printing and copy worked well. Scanner is a very cumbersome to set up. In fact- after 3 days of trying to set it up to send files as emails via smtp (I wanted to use gmail as server - I gave it up, and here's why: If you don't have much of networking experience- you may want setup instructions written to be as simply as possible, and for this printer it's not the case. Paper manual refers to 'Send Function Setting Tool' which is unclear where to find. It's not clear from the manual where I should find the tool. I went to printer web admin- nothing is there, I contacted (via email) Canon Tech Support (mentioning that I'm a novice, and not a System Administrator)- they gave me some idea, but it wasn't sufficient. I don't think that configuring printer for that simply key functionality should be that difficult. It left me unsatisfied with the printer. And as another note aside- the printer comes with a set-up CD. Many of new laptops come without CD-ROM. For me it's not clear whether the CD is unique and very important in printer set up, or maybe I could get the same information by visiting/downloading stuff from the web. Conclusion: 1. for Office - it's small and doesn't support A3 2. for Home Office- a good fit but it's difficult to set up Scan to email functionality 3. for Home - it's to heavy and regular user definitely won't be able to set up scan to email functionality Not to forget: I received this Canon printer a free sample for providing an open and honest review of the product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy and very user friendly This new Canon printer looks like someone really put a lot of thought into building it. Lets start with the box so easy to open and i could have done it alone but i had my buddy helping me. Setting up was so easy and it found our network in minutes and ready to work. First print was like okay but next one and after that quality is so perfect. I love the fact i can mobile print from anywhere that helps me with my business. I would recommend this printer to everyone who needs printer more than just once in a while. So far i am very pleased with our new canon printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from True High Class Quality Printer! I received this product in exchange for an honest review so here it goes! I really LOVE this printer! I am impressed! It was easy to set up straight out the box and it required little no assembly. I did have a small issue with installing the driver since I have a MAC computer, but I was able to find it on their website. I love the touch screen panel and having the ability to do everything I need there instead of my computer. I love the mobile printing as well! I am usually on my phone handling business and don't always have my laptop readily available, so having that option to print from my phone wireless is a LIFE SAVER! The print quality is excellent. It prints super fast and it is crisp and clear. I would absolutely recommend this product to my friends and family! Great job!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from User Friendly and lots of Functions! Recently, I received a free Canon Printer -MF731Cdw for agreeing to review it. I found this printer to be very easy to set up and use right out of the box. It was larger than I expected but very user friendly for my basic printing needs. It was very quiet for its size too. There were many things I liked about this printer but my favorite is the ability to print both sides of a document and to do so quickly and with quality. I was impressed with how easy it was to connect wirelessly to my Apple computer and phone as well as my husband's PC. This machine is perfect for a small business. Overall, I am very impressed with the capabilities of this printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Impressed! Wow, I am impressed! Only struggle I had was getting the box in the car and in the house. Un packing was a breeze after you get past the red tape it was plug and play. This printer is fast fast fast and the quality should be more than acceptable for most. Worked flawless with my WIFI and conneting to my Galaxy and Laptop was up and printing in a matter of minutes. Thanks Canon for producing a quality product within budget.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, but poor driver I have been frustrated that I have to continually re-install the driver due to recurring errors when trying to scan. The print quality is good, the ink lasts, but the scanner cannot scan double sided documents which is also frustrating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Printer and Easy set up! I received a free sample of this printer to review and found that the print quality is excellent. The set up of the printer and linking it to wireless printing was so incredibly easy as well. My favorite feature was how fast the printer printing while maintaining such a good quality of print. This is the best quality I have seen from a printer with toner versus an ink jet printer. I really like how the toner was already in the machine when I unpacked it, it took me a few minutes to realize that after searching around. Overall, I think it is a great printer with easy set up and great speed and quality. I would definitely recommend this printer to others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ease of install and use i used HP printers before and found it difficult to install and use...so after my last HP printer died, i decided to try a canon...so i bought this higher end for my home office...at first, i was worried about installation and access from all over the house...the installation turned out to be very easy and i am able to use it from all over the house!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do not purchase the imageCLASS MF731Cdw . The ImageClass731 has been a huge disappointment. 1st, this is not as compatible with a MAC as it is told be with a windows system. The Canon printer drivers will override the Mac drivers and settings will revert to the Canon default. And many Canon technical support people do not understand this so Canon immediately blames Apple. 2nd, each toner cartridge is showing at least 50% full yet the printed pages are showing faded text and images. 3rd, the hours for technical support are not very user friendly being M-F 10-6PM only and there is no chat nor email support. I reverted back to Canon after purchasing Canon multifunction machines in the past and the competition has increased their prices significantly on their multifunction color laser machines. However, in this case I have found that you get what you pay for. I cannot recommend this printer if you are looking for a quality color laser multifunction printer and after talking with a level 2 support person, I have learned the 3 year warranty is not a replacement warranty and if you purchase through a 3rd party like Amazon, then Canon defers back to the 3rd party warranty. In this case, Amazon offers a 30 day return policy. When the 2nd level support person blamed my issues on toner, he would only offer a discount on a replacement toner, he would not replace the "defective" toner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stratified Printing Cannon printer review: Before this review I had no experience with Canon laser inkjet printers but had experience with a couple major name brands that make color laser inkjet printers. Because of unfamiliarity with brand I must say my expectations were not high. This printer way over-performed my expectations. What the product did well was interact quickly with my laptop wirelessly. Usually the que’s on the printers vary the amount of time to actual printing from when command is given. The quick response and printing too were pleasant surprises. Life is busy, don’t want to wait around for que’s to push through. Another feature that worked well was the touch pad. It too responded promptly and was very intuitive. Seldom do I read direction all the way through before trying to see if I already know how or if plug and play will open the install and other features. The keypad was simple, concise, and natural. The only assembly really was installing ink and that was effortless. There were direction on top of box on how best to open box, 6 little pictures, made it so simple instead of breakout a knife and opening only to realize the better way after. The comic like direction captured my attention only because I thought, “Why are there direction on the outside of box?” They fooled me by offering a Cannon comic mini comic book!! It is quite a heavy product which I would say is a limitation in a small way. Was going to keep right on desk but didn’t want to fill up the amount of space or really rest object on my desk in case it causes unusual wear and tear on my nice desk. I might be a little to cautious due to loving my desk! Replacement ink is the same price as my other comparable laser jet that I already owned. That is good to know and both can be purchased online. Altogether I would recommend this printer for a small enterprise. It will be one of a few used in a 14 person office that is mostly a satellite office for our tutors working in the area. I was given this printer to try and review, it has helped to facilitate more productive for which I am grateful.

Over-Powered for Home Office This printer is one of the best I`ve ever owned, though maybe somewhat more powerful than the typical home office or very small business user would need. I received a sample of the printer in exchange for my review, and have been using it in my small office for the past week. For a printer so large, and with so much potential to be complicated, I found setup delightfully easy. Instructions were adeptly conveyed for everything from taking the printer out of its packaging to configuring its internet connection and connecting to computers. I was able to set it up in 30 minutes, minus the time it took me to find somewhere for the machine to live. It`s worth noting that it`s pretty big and very heavy - it needs something like 4 square feet of (very sturdy) table space and needs two people to move it. I still haven`t found the perfect place for it. The prints have been speedy and of excellent quality. Scanning - the feature I use most often - has also been easy and high quality. There appear to be a lot more features that I haven`t yet got to, but I trust that they will be satisfactory, given that the basic printing, scanning, and copying are very solid. Features are easy to access and use thanks to the intuitive touch screen display. The screen itself could be more precisely responsive to touch, but it`s no worse than the touch screen on any other office machine I`ve used. Overall, I am very happy with the Canon MF731Cdw and am excited to rely on it for many years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Continually wasting my time Cannon makes great products and this is why I bought it. Printer/copier work fine. The scanner and scan to email function is a complete bust. I ran a large office for 10 years where I consistently had to troubleshoot similar devices. This one is a disgrace to the Cannon brand. In 2 months, I have had to call support over 14 times, wasting about 30+ minutes of my time each occurrence, and there doesn't seem to be a solution to the fact that you can continue to reset it for the scan/email function, but it will continue to require tech support every couple weeks to set it back up. I am tech savvy and it has been the biggest pain in my rear of any device I have ever owned or worked with. I hope they see similar reviews and come up with a solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High-End Features with significant on-going cost *In exchange for this review, I was sent a free printer from Cannon to test. Even though I was sent the product for free, the opinions are my own and in no way influenced by any company involved in me receiving the free product.* The Cannon MF731Cdw overall is a fantastic printer. I love the ability to copy and print double-sided sheets. That to me might be the best feature as it saves so much time (and paper) when printing or copying large documents or quantities. Also, the first page to print is faster than anything I have ever seen before. I think sometimes the first page prints before I even hit the 'print' or 'send to printer' button on my devices. I am also a big fan of the ability to pre-program locations on network computer to which all scanned documents can be sent. That makes it so easy and basically effortless to scan a document and either send it directly to a co-workers computer or via email. Finally, the ability to print from Apple devices via AirPrint and to print remotely via Google Could Print are amazingly innovative and easy to use functions. Definitely makes using this printer so much more convenient. The downsides...the printer is HUGE. Weighing in at almost 75lbs. makes it incredibly difficult to find a suitable table or stand on which to set the printer. It is quite cumbersome to handle and move around if needed. Would likely require 2 people. And in a small office or at home...how often do you have 2 people to move a printer? Also, the toner refills are FAR more expensive than on other laser printers in the same class (almost double the price). That ultimately will likely limit our use of the Cannon moving forward for printing needs (although the included "test" or "sample" toner cartridges are much better and last longer than most printers). Lastly, Canon customer service is maybe the worst in the industry. They will repeatedly tell you they "want" to help but never *ACTUALLY* help with issues! Overall, I like the printer and look forward to getting to use it more and getting to better know its features.

It has stayed connected for me. (Strong signal throughout the house with 4 Google Wifi routers. Works well will all papers I've used so far including labels. Prints wireless from all my devices including iPhone/Android Pone/iPad/Google Cloud Print. Evens scans and sends to email using the Google SMTP server. The down side is that it is a bit heavy.

We have constantly had to turn on and off. It stalls continually or just doesn't work at all. It has drastically slowed down production in our office.

After a couple days, the computers will lose the connection to the printer and the printer needs to be reinstalled on the computers. Sometimes this doesn't work and so it's a constant crapshoot on whether or not the printer will work that day.
