The two 2GB memories worked great so now I have a total 4GB of memory. The installation went quickly with no problems and the desktop feels faster. I was curious to see if I could add my two 1GB memory chips so in installed them for a total of 3GB in each channel. The desktop froze during boot up so I had to remove them. All in all I am pretty happy with the 4GB of memory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flawless I had been collecting second hand parts for my nephew's graduation present since New Years, which is when he told me his old Athlon based rig wasn't able to run the new WoW expansion I got him for Christmas. The problem I came into was a second hand motherboard that wouldn't recognize any of the DDR2 RAM I had available. I recalled Crucial's compatibility site from my years in callcenter TS, plugged in the manufacturer and model# and paid via paypal. Long story made short: My nephew now has a great new Core 2 Duo rig that cost less than the WoW expansion itself - thanks to Crucial's site (and a bunch of old friends).

Both systems froze for no reason, Going on a search I discovered the cause may be linked to the DRAM latency, you know the *-*-*-* numbers. I tried to find this info everywhere, but no where to be found even on the original packaging. I had to perform a mem test to find some info because all of my settings were set to auto and this may have been the cause. I found the settings there that my pc was using and they were 6-6-6-18. For those looking for this info, I know it was tough but as soon as i find out if this stops the freezing I'll update this, but those looking for this info there. Unknown if I'd recommend this.

Everything seems to work fine except that I can't really appreciate if there was an increase in speed/performance. I am not a gamer. I am just referring to the speed which with programs are loaded and how quickly I can switch between tasks.

Once I changed over to Crucial my Pc has only lock up 3 times in 3 weeks compared to always before. Great memory cards do make a difference!

The computer was an awesome midgrade gaming machine that was built when SLI first was getting popular a couple years ago. We only had 1gb of ram put in it when we ordered it and at the time it was all that was required, the times have changed and what was a ultra fast system had so much lag it was impossible to use so I picked these up before installing Windows 7. A major improvement and has brought new life into it I cant wait to see what it does with an SLI video card and windows 7 64 bit as well as a couple more of these 2 gb sticks.I will buy from them again

I also upgraded my OS so I needed this new ram anyway. I only wish my MB was 64 bit, I guess thats next upgrade.

I used the Crucial.com compatibility tool to scan my motherboard and advise which RAM was compatible with it- and therefore which sticks I should buy. I bought the recommended sticks for my motherboard (An ASUS P5QL-EM, 64 bit system which SHOULD normally be able to handle 8 gigs.) When I installed it, it wouldn't work. Tried again, and nothing. I called customer support, and after a few minutes of research, the Crucial technician discovered that my motherboard had a quirky limitation on it and it could only take 4 gigs. The Crucial.com analyzer did not pick up on this. That's my only problem- apparently it is not infallable, and you should verify its recommendations from another source- or call support and double check with an actual person. They handled the return professionally and courteously.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Bang for the Buck looking for a plug and play memory, i opted for these modules. im using CAD alone, no games or other memory comsuming applications, and these ram memories will deff increase the speed. the only drawback is that im using windows XP and it reads only up to 4gig, but my mainboard nforce hold up to 8 gigs. nothing to do with the memory, just a hint what to look for. overall im please with this product. thanks A plus!

Too bad the Crucial System Analyzer recommended the memory for an x64 system when mine is x32 which can't take the amount of memory it said. I love Crucial memory and have been using it for decades. The system advisor needs to pay attention to the OS.

I DO NOT like the compatibility issues of other products, believe me I have tried them all. I have never had a single issue with compatibility with any Crucial Product. I recommend them to everyone. I only build systems with a 3 year warranty and it has to include Crucial Memory Products or I won't build it at all. I just don't have the time to play with inferior products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from some compatibility issues Had 2x2GB existing memory with two open slots. Added 2x2GB Crucial memory using modules recommended by Crucial system scan. Old memory and new Crucial memory work when separately installed, but not together. When both are present (independent of which slots are used) there is a black screen and no BIOS splash. To get the upgrade to install, I had to flash the BIOS with a newer firmware version. That was tedious and time consuming for my older motherboard. Finally, the upgrade now works well.

After selecting the motherboard, it was very helpful to be able the use the Crucial website to select the motherboard and be offered a list of memory options that match the motherboard configuration. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works fine in Dell XPS 420 desktop, but I bought this for my Dell XPS 420 desktop running Vista 64-bit which had 3GB factory installed from Dell. My Windows Experience Index (WEI) for the memory category was 5.6 I bought (2) 4GB kits for a total of 8GB from Crucial to make sure I had enough RAM for all my programming tasks and background applications. It all installed smoothly and worked fine, but unfortunately my WEI score went down to 5.4 I'm not happy that my WEI score went down from 5.6 down to 5.4 after the upgrade, but everything seems to be working fine regardless. I suspect that the Crucial speed is slower than the Dell factory RAM.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No More Blue Screen of Death! In April of 2009 my brother-in-law built a new computer system for me. This system had 2X1GB sticks of RAM manufactured by a Crucial rival. For a year I was plagued by Blue Screens of Death which would wreak havoc with my system. First I would get the BSOD and reboot. The system would work for a day or two and then another BSOD would come up. This would continue with BSOD's occurring more frequently until eventually my computer would refuse to boot up at all. It was DEAD. MUERTO. MORT. VERSTORBENE. I would then have to reformat my hard drive and reload Windows which everyone knows is a huge pain in the tookas, even if you have faithfully backed up your system regularly. I'd be good for a month or so and then the cycle would repeat. BSOD, REBOOT, BSOD, REBOOT, BSOD, DEATH, REFORMAT, RELOAD, Rinse and repeat :( This cycle of deep annoyance occurred FOUR TIMES. I tried several different kinds of fixes such as unplugging different peripheral devices, replacing peripherals, updating drivers, etc, but eventually the BSOD would start happening again. Finally, in late April, 2010, after I started getting the BSOD again I decided to just replace my original RAM with 1X2GB stick of Crucial RAM. Drum roll...... NO MORE BLUE SCREENS OF DEATH! It was that simple: 1. I had the Blue Screen of Death 2. I replaced the old RAM with Crucial RAM 3. VOILA! System Normal. No more BSOD. It was amazing, because the cycle of BSOD's had definitely begun again but the cycle was destroyed by my Crucial RAM! Thank You Crucial, your RAM was CRUCIAL to ending my run of BSODs! Nothing but Crucial RAM in the future for me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid, fast, reliable I recently upgraded the RAM on a desktop of mine - a 2010-ish era Compaq dc5850, AMD Phenom X4 and stock 4 GB RAM. This is an older system that I use for audio recording and processing. One of the stock RAM sticks died a while back, and since upgrading to Crucial, I've noticed a definite improvement. My system is noticably faster with audio related tasks now. I am going to be building a custom system soon (finally), and I will definitely be going with Crucial RAM again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compatible? Was concerned if it would work with the 'slower' 1 gig stick already in my puter. FAQ suggested the new stick would 'clock down' to the old stick speed, if I understood it correctly. The puter did not work with both sticks, so had to remove the old one.

Music, editing home movies, watching movies, editing photos, gaming, word documents, etc. Our computer was running very slow, on start up you had to turn it on and walk away. opening email and internet was very slow..... Now it hardly has to think it all. I click and it is open. Great pricing and great product is all I have to say.. Thank you so much!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performance Increase for Little Money The memory went in easily, a gentle push and they were installed. The extra memory showed up when the machine booted up. I went from 6GB to 8GB max capacity and the improvement to online 3D graphics was obvious immediately. So with a good graphics card and the extra memory, I am getting the most I can out of this 6 year old desktop system. I'll put off upgrading to a faster processor and graphics card for another few months now.

After downloading a program and flashing the BIOS all works well and in harmony. Not much disk swapping and subjectively, things feel more stable.

I am using this memory in Intel MOBO based file servers running Linux. The memory is rock stable. The memory sticks also run nice and cool - no heat sinks are required.

It was stable enough until I tried to upgrade to Windows 7. A MemTest 86 indicated memory problems and I ordered and installed the memory. All crashes have stopped and I was able to install Windows 7 and run it without problem.

I have installed new/additional RAM quite some many years ago and I was supprised that RAM is RAM today or ten years ago. I also came away from the transaction with the idea that the product would be delivered sooner than 7 days. Hmmmmm, guess I must be having senior hours or days rather than just momenents. Glad I did not need it that soon. Anyway the product was as described and my home videos load faster and allow more editing so I am satisfied.
