The next day 8/24 after an hour I figured out that the brand new color cartridge that came with the printer ha failed. I had ordered a back up when I purchased this pig of a printer and that worked. However, the printing is terrible. I tried to clean the heads and reset the printer, still terrible and un useable copies. I want my money back some way to return the printer to you.

I would say at least a ream's worth of pages....give and take. Once I got a ream and a half. And I always get the genuine HP brand. Virtually flawless, extremely reliable. I like peace of mind when I am counting on a completed printing task. I also like how HP sends a pre-paid mailing envelope to recycle the old cartridges. Get the Genuine HP high yield cartridge and you will not be disappointed.

Took back a cartridge that wouldn't fit in HP printer; BB wouldn't exchange -- more than 2 weeks from purchase; found 'magnetic strip' of 'tape' in box; BUT box had been opened so no exchange. I asked how to put cartridge in printer without opening box? 2 sales associates didn't know;1 even suggested a new printer. END result - ended up purchasing a new printer, new ink and a new computer. It is an Epson printer and I believe the ink costs will be much less.

It takes up much time (and ink) because my printer wants to run an alignment print multiple times, plus I must unplug and go through multiple steps to eventually get it to work. VERY frustrating! Once it works, it's fine, though sometimes it needs replaced even though it indicates the cartridge is half full.

They both seem to not last as long as they used to. I used to be able to use them way beyond the “ink low warning”. Now they seem to almost occur at the same time. i.e. I get the warning and can almost instantly not print. I have been happily using HP products for years. Something has changed!!

It is not that old and I haven't printed over 20 labels with it. At $40+ I would hope it would last longer. This is the second time this has happened. I made sure it was seated correctly as well as I tried a couple of other things. I reinstalled the cartridge a couple of times but it kept saying the cartridge needed to be replaced. I was on a tight deadline and this made me miss their deadline. I also lost the future contract for doing additional jobs for them.

The product is good and excellent but it would be nice if it were a little more financially feasible or maybe even some financial renumeration for returning the cartridges. I acquiesced to limiting my choices of cartridges to those manufactured by HP. A generic would not print. I could not go back. To assuage me they offered a coupon with which I purchased three HP black XL cartridges. Since I just turned 90 they may last a lifetime. I do very little with the printer. I use it to copy the daily menus at the senior facility where I reside.

The color cartridge is bright and brilliant. I also love that a recycle bag is included to put the used cartridge in the mail back to HP.

At some point they switched their black ink to the 61XL cartridge. I guess they wanted me to throw away my old printer because I’ve never been able to get the new cartridge to fit.

A week later, I tried to print another document and it was a med to light gray tone. I shut off the printer, turned it back on, reinstalled the cartridges (black and color) that you sent me, and it still was light gray. This was horrible as I needed a good cartridge. I am so upset that I paid so much for two supposed new cartridges. I trusted you that they would be good and as I get ready to purchase a new printer I am now very leary of HP because of this incident.

Whether purchased retail from a big box or directly from HP, HP's ink cartridges do NOT work in HP's own printer products. It's a reliable workhorse that I use only HP ink cartridges.The occasional problems I have with it are caused by WI-FI. They are simple to handle and replacing the cartridges is a fast and easy push-in. I like that I don't have to have a color cartridge installed if I want to print black only, although when i need color, it's the same convenient size cartridge next to the black.. The 61XL black usually lasts me longer than I expect. But I always keep a spare. I would like to see HP give more competitive discounts on HP ink cartridges. Other than that, I'm satisfied with the really good reliable quality and performance.

I choose the genuine HP cartridge because I like the prompts my printer gives recognizing the installation taking me through a couple tests ensuring proper color, alignment, and some other things. HP also sends me a postage paid return envelope for the old cartridge.

Last couple of orders the ink (both black and color) never lasts all the way. I get to about 1/3 left and the pages no longer come out properly printed. I print things for friends who do not have a computer all the time. Living in a Seniors only community, a lots of folks do not have computers so I do a lot for them.

Yes, they were cheaper and "seemed" to work as well, but before the end of their usefulness they were... indeed useless. I won't go back to any off-brand again. The best part was the extreme speed that they arrive on my front porch! Ordered one day here the next! Yes, indeed, cannot beat that service! Thank you for your service and dependability of your products! Now if I ever am far enough ahead of my bills - it will be a new all-in-one or other similar desktop. I've had this one for longer that I care to think about, but it keeps running perfectly - I think it's about 10 or 11 years old and I can only applaud how well it continues to function! I update as needed, and anything that pops up that needs attention. HP - the "place" to be!

Followed instructions on-line and recommendations by HP. Never could get the last color cartridges to print correctly. Ran cleaner sequence twice. I don't print very often, but if I was using it for work or school, one of these cartridges would only last a few weeks. For what they cost, they should last much longer.

I realize that there is a bit of tech involved with producing and making these things useable, but, come on. Who but businesses and rich people can afford to buy these things with any regularity anymore? I just bought two black XL cartridges, and it cost me over $130. That's groceries for two weeks. I find that inexplicable and, frankly, outrageous.

It's not as though I had any choice in the matter. I don't know why these things should cost $40-$50 each, but it is what it is. I guess you can do that when you have a "captive market."

The real reason I even ordered it was to alleviate an argument with my father-in-law about how the only ink that works has to be from the HP store. These ink cartridges have always worked just find in the past, so I feel reasonably confident this one will, too. It's hard to wax ecstatic about black printer ink. The exorbitant price is about the only stimulating thing about it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New ink semi reset… please add to instructions. We need semi-reset instructions with ink pack. I kept getting printer error and then paper error after installing ink. Googled printer error and found from a YouTube video that by pressing back button several times a special menu pops up which allows for semi-reset which fixes problem. Answer on the HP site was unplug for 1 min which didn’t work. Add semi-reset to troubleshoot if errors show up after new ink installation. Looking for an answer took time and other people were ready to be done. Simple change will do wonders.

I don't have to do very much printing, so longevity of the ink cartridge is important to me. I've had the cartridge stop working when the app showed plenty of ink left in the cartridge; I'm not sure why that happens but I'm willing to cut HP some slack because of the time factor. I'm not sure whether this is a problem with the cartridge or my printer, quite frankly.

However, the ink seems watered down, so the print doesn't have that sharp finished quality. The dollars saved on refill options are not worth the poor quality print on your documents. That "average" for features is because there could be more ink in the cartridges. I am an adult student. I print a lot of papers. Older professors still like hard copy; and I too prefer hard copies of my research materials. But back to the HP Ink Cartridges, my printers love them and so do I.

I pulled out the old black cartridge and somehow broke the printer - some wire came loose - and the black ink would not install. The color ink ran out soon after and I GINGERLY removed that cartridge and replaced it as well - both refused to work again. I have had HP printers for a decade and this is the first time I have ever killed a printer trying to change the ink.

This is VERY unusual for this to happen to me, because I generally can make each of the black and color inks last about 2 months. During those 2 months, I use each AND every day too! I do not know if I got a "bad egg" in the batch, but I REALLY am not very happy. I will not be able to place another order for a couple of weeks, and by then, I will have SO MUCH work that I will not have been able to print! I am wondering if I should just buy some ink from Walmart, because I KNOW they would have exchanged it and made it right. I rely on both the black and color inks for business AND personal use daily, and I am the only one that uses the printer. I bought the larger size because I thought it would last longer! Anything you could possibly do to make this right, would be very appreciated because other than this incident, I had planned on being a long time customer. Thank you for your quick response,

In the past I have purchased from local office supply stores. Not always the best option because they have been "out of stock" on more than one occasion. No other option I have used in the past compares to the quality and service of my internet direct purchasing experience. Not to mention discounts that are offered from time to time make the purchase very competitively priced. Recommend you give it a try before purchasing elsewhere - I do believe you will be delighted with price, quality and service.

I may pay a little more for the items but the customer service, performance of the products and overall quality out weigh the cost. I liked the free shipping and the 2 business day delivery time but when I started printing I run out of ink after printing only 187 pages. This is less than what the regular 61 is rated (Up to 190 pages). On the web site the 61XL is rated to print up to 480 pages. The last 61XL I used printed more pages. Guess they didn't get enough ink in this one.

I ran 4 test prints, but only the color ink printed. I cleaned the print head to no avail. I removed it and shook it and there was no sound and no ink on the cartridge opening. I loaded the other cartridge and it printed right away. Normally, I have never had a problem with these cartridges. I threw out the return label when I received the package. I will contact HP to get a return label and replace the empty cartridge.

Unfortunately, for the past 2 months the print cartridges I have gotten have not lasted as long (neither the black or multi-colored ones). I am very, very disappointed. I am a senior and often does work out of my home. I don't get many discounts on print cartridges and have found, overall, that they become expensive because of the amount of printing I do. The error message on my printer said 'defective black cartridge'. in subsequent days while I waited for a replacement to be delivered from another vendor, it worked sporadically, but never longer than part of a day.

Notes: Don't mess with the refills. Just buy the XL cartridge. You won't save enough money refilling the old one to make up for the inevitable problems (print quality, leaks, spills, etc.). If you are printing hundreds of pages, you will want a different printer anyway.

I purchase the XL because I do a large volume of printing, but the regular ones do last, also. I tried the "refill" store once, and will never do it again. HP has competitive pricing, sometimes even less than the "refill" store; HP offers free shipping, and my cartridges arrive in about 2 days. Enough said.

Printer finally would not print anything over a two day period. Had to go through hardware and software troubleshooting to get a replacement. Terrible, and I had to buy a new cartridge at the local store, a half hour drive away, while waiting for new cartridge to be delivered.

I print a lot of PowerPoint slide notes for school and go through ink really fast. This cartridge has way outlasted the standard ones. With the printer set on economy mode, I have so far printed around 250 pages and still have half the cartridge left. Will definitely buy again

I am very disappointed as most everything I buy is HP and when I was just printing and it popped up that I was low on ink my first thought was "WOW that sure didn't last as long as it should of, it was no more pages than the regular size cartridge" I guess I just continue to buy the regular size because 2 of them is still $2 cheaper than the XL and I will get more pages out of it.

They are less expensive than even our best discount store, and they last much longer than the standard cartridge. Also, I usually have a $10 off coupon or sometimes even more, so this gives me more savings. I really like the recycling envelope that is sent with my purchase. After I have used about 4 cartridges, I just pop them in the bag and drop it in the mail. That's really kind of a nice thing to do.

I purchased a new HP printer for a very low price about 4 months ago and have already spent 3 times more on ink than on the printer. It does seem that if a printer can be designed and manufactured for a good price that the cartridges could last longer. I'm sure HP expects to make their money off the cartridges and they certainly do.

I was buying from discount websites for ink, but I became frustrated with the cartridge being empty or half full. Since I have been buying direct from HP, every cartridge that I have received has been the highest of quality. You couldn't pay me to go back to used and refilled cartridges. If you want the highest quality then go to HP for the highest satisfaction

As with any ink supply, you always wish it could print more pages but you do get to a physical limit. I am using this in a printer that has come from very light use to daily 50 page use. No problems. It will be interesting to see how long the printer lasts! The ink supply is not a worry!

I figured it would cost more and I would have to pay for shipping and wait a week to get my ink deliverd to me. I was wrong! I nomally just buy the standard 61HP ink cartridge and have to go through about one in a month in order to print off papers and work for graduate school. I was really excited to see that I could get more than double the amout of copies for almost the same price. The A-M cartridges either don't work properly or they don't hsve the ink capacity of the genuine HP. I will in the future stick with the genuine cartridges for both my HP printers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing wrong. We got the appropriate number of copies from the cartridge. Then we took it out, shook it a few times and got MORE copies. It's an ink cartridge. If you think yours ran short, call HP Cust Svc and they will take your empty one and send you a replacement. They're good like that. MFranklin Sacramento

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ink Levels When I first purchased my HP3050a all in one wi-fi I also purchased extra ink. The XL. The ink that came with the unit ran out within a few weeks. I only use this unit for personal use so there was really no reason for this. This has never happened to me before. I am assuming that the ink that comes with the unit is not quite full to capacity. I HOPE this is the reason.

Upon entry into my printer, I followed the instructions to only find out that the cartridge didn't performed in a manner which I thought. It printed in the lightest ink continuously. I was not happy as I had a lot of documents to print. I will be taking it back for a replacement. More like the 61 size. Without adding the XL.

This is the cartridge for me as most of my printing is done in black. Team this with a standard Tri-color cartridge and it is the perfect fit for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ink I just installed the HP 61XL Black ink cartridge in my HP Deskjet 3054 printer and it started to print my previously scanned items and would not stop printing until I turned the power off. Apparently there was a communication malfunction between my Mac which runs Lion and the printer which are connected by a USB cable. If I didn't shut the power off, my new ink cartridge would would now be empty. HP tech support was terrific. Has anyone had a similar problem?
