Sticking with HP
I bought this machine to replace our old M652. This new machine has been a workhorse so far and the bigger 4.3" touchscreen display is a big plus among the staff.

Great Printer once setup correclty
The M653dn works great, but typical of HP printers trying to find drivers that work with the updated version of Windows and then getting them to work is a hassle. Hard to find intuitive instructions on how to setup the printer and/or make changes to certain settings.

Slower than molasses!
We purchased this printer over a month ago to replace our aged HP Color LaserJet 4700dn. What a mistake. It is slower than our inkjet printers. PLUS, it ties up our computers while it is thinking about printing; you can't move on to something else while you are waiting. It was recommended by HP as the replacement for our 4700 -- it's not even close!

Frustrated and mad from
Failed right out of the box
Just bought this printer, pulled it out of the box and plugged it in. Made 15 attempts to print the configuration page and printer supply page from the menu and it jammed every time. Had to replace a CP4025 because it wouldn't work with windows 10 and HP doesn't have a driver for new OS. It was a quality printer and it work flawlessly, didn't want to give it up.

Replaced my HP 4600 with the M653
This unit is being used in my technology lab with middle school students. It is extremely fast and prints are of the highest quality.

Print quality problems
I think we may have received a lemon. We've had issues with the color toner not fusing to the page, stray black marks all over the page, and on the edges of the pages. We've already had a certified technician out who advised us to replace the fuser, even though it's brand new. So now we have a new fuser and image transfer belt kit coming - $695 on a brand new printer.
